He's beautiful, 9 lbs 5 oz, (two pounds bigger than dorothy, my god!) 21 inches long, but unfortunately is in the special care unit due to fluid on his lungs. He had some trouble breathing after the birth and they couldn't get his oxygen up properly. He's being fed via a tube at the moment and is on oxygen, but he seems like he's going to be fine. I think the neonatologist is being overly cautious (really? I can't hold him? He's pink now!) but she seems to think he'll be out of the box and in my arms tomorrow morning. I'm of course concerned about breastfeeding, which we haven't been able to initiate, but i've got a pump and at least they aren't bottle-feeding him. Thanks for the good wishes and love. I totally thought of my blessingway and your all's wishes to me while i was in labor. Just got to do kangaroo care for an hour, and am feeling better about it. He's a sweetie! Now my daughter is on her way to visit. |
