do I need to take a vitamin?

I'm EBF my four month old twins. I stopped taking multivitamins when I ran out of prenatals two months ago. My diet is good and I get plenty of calcium, veggies, healthy fats, etc. Do I really need a multivitamin? My problem with vitamins is that I'm intolerant of corn (I get stomach problems and migraines) and it's almost impossible to find vitamins that don't contain corn derivatives. I'd just like to hear some opinions. Thanks!

What about liquid vits and minerals or cod liver oil? I'm not a fan of multi vits and just take what I think I need extra of. I take Blue Ice cod liver oil (natural a, d and DHA), calcium, and liquid B vits as needed.

I don't, but if you wanted to, I would just continue taking your prenatal.

I still take my prenatal at 12mo PP - it's a great multi IMO and I like having the extra nutrients even if most are covered in my diet as well

I also continued taking my prenatal for the first year of nursing. I was used to it and my MW had no problem continuing to prescribe it for me. I think it is important to take some sort of supplement... but I have heard a lot of horror stories about women who suddenly started having problems with tooth decay after pregnancy and nursing. I don't want my body taking the nutrients from my teeth and bones to feed my baby! So, I choose to err on the side of caution and take my vitamins.

I stopped too when DS was around a couple months old. Honestly with twins I might be more inclined to take one, but if your diet is super healthy then I don't think it's absolutely necessary, you could compare a multi-vitamin to what's in your daily diet & make sure there's nothing missing.

Thanks very much! I think i'm going to take some calcium as insurance (teeth falling out...yikes).

I don't understand the whole prenatals during nursing. Those things have so much iron. They hurt my stomach and you don't need extra iron while bfing. I only take as needed. Like if I realize I haven't had much calcium that day... or had any sun (vit D) or ate things with omega 3s etc.

You don't? I've been taking an iron supplement. Is this bad? I had low iron during pregnancy, and just never stopped taking it.
