electrolyte imbalance

DD has suddenly been constipated again, very dry skin and has always had issues with her under eyes being puffy especially in the am so her ND is thinking she may have something going on with her kidneys. She wants me to try the Emergen C sports balance for a week and see is symptoms improve. If they don't she wants to do kidney test which will involve use of a catheter. I really want to avoid that.

Anyone know what can strengthen the kidneys and help us get to the bottom of what's causing this?

I have somewhat weak kidneys I think anyway. They ache at times and as a kid I always had blood in my urine. Just a very small amount not visible to the human eye. I'm sure this has caused some issues with her kidneys now.

My dd had a catheter inserted so that they could test if she had a UTI (turns out she didn't have one) and they said it doesn't hurt and that its just uncomfortable, but in the meanwhile, I had learned that D-mannose is a good supplement for urinary tract health. Coconut water is supposed to have the perfect natural balance of electrolytes in it.

Good to know. How old is your DD? DD loves coconut water! But is that only with fresh coconut water?

She was 25 months when she had the catheter. I get Body Ecology raw coconut water, but I think pasteurized is ok too.
