post-partum bleeding?

Hey mamas. So I had my baby 2 weeks ago. I HATE pads!! How long after your previous births did you bleed? I'm sure it's different for everyone... Have you found it's different depending on how much you tore, etc? Just trying to figure out what to expect TIA!

I am still bleeding and my daughter was born 2 weeks ago today. In fact, today I had a few little gushes (ew) which I had not been having recently. I am still wearing a full-sized pad, but not having to change it very often anymore. I am mostly just tired of feeling gross. It doesn't matter how many showers a day I take, I feel like I smell.

I don't think I bled this much with my first, but I had a c-section then and a vaginal birth this time. I know sometimes they suck some of the blood out when you have a c/s and that results in less PP bleeding. Or it may be that I had so much other stuff going on after my c-section (leaking incision, for example) that I just don't remember being focused on the PP bleeding.

I'm 2 weeks 4 days PP and still bleeding. It's pretty light now, but the other day when I tried to go without a pad, it was a big, messy mistake! I hate the pads, too....I think they're irritating my skin. I wish I'd stocked up on some mama cloth as I imagine it would breathe better. But I think it's a little late for that now.

With DD1, I bled for about a month But I had an episiotomy with her birth, so I think, like folkgirl said, I was so focused on healing from that that the bleeding itself didn't bother me as much. This time, I had a few small tears (no stitches) that healed up just before 2 weeks PP, so now all that's left is the bleeding and it's annoying the shit out of me!! My midwife told me that it wouldn't be abnormal for it to last beyond 6 weeks.

Hmm, mine is just now tapering off and i will be 6wks on mon! i hate hate hate it too! i had a couple second degree tears so maybe that made it slow going? i dont know but i want it to so be done and over! ok rant over...

Last time I hated wearing pads so much that I ended up stealing one of DS's cloth diapers. So every once in awhile I could have cotton down there instead of plastic. I actually have it saved in my dresser for this time around. (And I might end up using a few more...instead of all disposable ones.

2 weeks and 5 days here and I think I'm finally done! At 2 wks I still had a pretty regular flow, but it suddenly tapered off a couple days ago. I'm wearing just a liner today, just in case, but I am so excited! Hoping you guys will be done with the pads soon, too!

In my 3rd week and going insane from wearing pads. I agree about feeling dirty and smelly. Yuck! Mine is gushes of bood every couple of hours with nothing in between.

I hit 4 weeks on Friday and I think I'm just about done - the occasional spotting here and there when I wipe but that's it. With my first I bled for close to 6 weeks and the middle two it was more like 2-3 weeks.

6w potentially?! I can't deal with this that long! I'm 2w pp today, so sometime VERY soon would be nice. I had MAJOR tearing though, so I'm not thinking that'll be the case... I'm also getting evening sweats, so the smells coming from me are not pretty, no matter how much I shower!

I'm getting wicked night sweats too. Ugh.

I got the sweats too, it gets better with time. I think the sweating decreased for me around 3 weeks pp.

OH yea, lots of sweating. leaking, bleeding, stuff coming out everywhere - PP is just awesome isn't it I think I bled for around 4 weeks, for the last 2 it was VERY light and spotty though

I HATE night sweats...grrr...

Bleeding has varied...first child it was eight weeks, second was six or so, third was one week, and this one is nearly done at 2 weeks...I don't know how that is determined...giving birth is definitely not very glamorous, is it!?

Good to hear the night sweats are normal. I had no idea what was going on.

I have 3 mama cloth pads and 2 liners (snap over the pad) and they are sooooo much more comfy than the disposible ones.

I'm at a week and a half PP... and I haven't bled today so far. I bet it will come back though, we'll see. Don't hate me! No tearing, so that probably has an effect. Cloth pads are much nicer than the disposable ones, I gave all the ones in my birth kit back to the midwife. I still have some disposable ones left over from DS1's (heh, I need a number now!) birth, but haven't needed them.

I am leaking milk everywhere, though. :P

nak

last time i had 1 week of medium bleeding, then 5 weeks of very light spotting--ick

i'm only 8 days in this time, so too early to tell
post #17 of 25
yep still going at almost 7 wks!
I'm in my 5th week and it finally switched to spotting. The night sweats are a little better too.

I'm leaking milk too. Both if he cries and if it's been more than 1.5 hours since I last fed him.

Yup, bleeding again... half the time. Very confusing.

Two and half weeks PP here, and mine has turned into a slippery, brownish tinted type of discharge. Is this normal? I just remember spotting with my DD, not such a slimy grossness.
Oh dear... hearing that it could go on for potentially 6 more weeks is very disheartening...
