It's just a different part

DH was watching news on his i-touch and there was a story about a woman who found a chicken head in her box of chicken wings at McD. The reporters made a huge fuss about it being disgusting. There is an investigation going on.

Am I the only one who is thinking, it's just a different part of the dead chicken. She ordered a box of dead chicken parts, they just happened to give her one that was a bit more recognizable than the one she wanted.

The investigation seems really silly to me. It's pretty obvious that the chicken head came from the same place that the chicken wings came from; off the dead chicken. What exactly are they investigating?

Of course, go ahead.

It really is so ironic. So many people just want to pretend that meat doesn't come from a dead animal. The linguists have all these reasons that we have separate word for cow and beef, or pig and pork, but I think the real reason these stuck so long after the French speaking Normans anglicized is b/c they are euphemisms that make people more comfortable.

The head is just such a recognizably animal part though, that it can't be ignored.

exactly!
I can't wait to blog about how funny this is! People are so ridiculous and complicated....
One of my best friend's has chickens as pets/egg producers. She has to get rid of them because she is moving and can't bring them and it was really important to her to find someone who wouldn't eat them. But the best part of the story is that chicken is her absolute fave meat in the whole world!

This is knee-slapping funny.

But also ... what's the right word....

Oh exactly!
I also think that when people are horrified to hear that some people eat cats, dogs, horses etc. Why is that worse than cows/pigs/chickens???

It is so arbitrary - these animals / animal parts are ok to eat, these aren't...
