Yes, they do.

A few weeks ago, I ordered a carseat with "97 cent shipping" written next to it, and that was the amount they charged, even though it was to Alaska

Wasn't someone asking for sources of grass-fed and local meats here in the Interior?

I just found out there's a new local market called The Homegrown Marken on Geraghty Street in Fairbanks. They have local beef, pork, it looks like maybe goat too...Matanuska Maid Milk, veggies, etc.

It looks amazing from its facebook page! I haven't been in there yet, but hope to drop in soon.

Great find P!

Is Northern Lights Dairy still running? Based out of Delta Junction, sold stuff in Fairbanks.
I miss their milk and ice cream.

Ok- I am looking into this baby wearing thing... any suggestions?

I want one that goes on BOTH shoulders- so kind of interested in a moby wrap type or maybe a Mei Tai.. I was planning on buying something at Sugar and Spice and getting SIZED and all that but they aren't around anymore, so... kind of feel I am back at square one.. Sweet Camo baby has a couple of brands.. but I was really hoping to get "fitted".. Also I want a carrier that works well while nursing (not sure about that with a moby) and will work from newborn..

Any suggestions? I just missed out on two moby's on craigslist..

Sorry, pinoikoi, I have no experience w/ dual-shoulder wraps. If you go for a sling, though, I LOVED my monkeybums ring sling. Super-long, nice and wide, and well made.

I'm so excited for you!

love, p

Thanks!

I had a sling with one of my previous babes, and a commercial type carrier, but I always felt sort of hanging out and insecure with the otsbh, and never really comfortable in the commercial carrier.. so I think a dual shoulder seems a better fit for all of my insecurities..

I love my moby-like carrier, and it was super easy to make: just five yards of fabric cut in half length-wise. Depending on the fabric you wouldn't even have to hem it...

Hi all... it has probably been over a year since I've popped in. My youngest son just turned 1 in February and now we're waiting for Baby #3 to make an appearance! My due date is tomorrow but it looks like I might go "late" with this one...

It's a web store - but she (Larissa) is in Anchorage and will do a consult with you to find the right sling & fit. I believe she is now also hosting a once a month open house as well - but I don't know when that is.

just have to pipe in quick on the car seat issue, I am absolutely in LOVE with the Britax Boulevard! They are really pricey, ($310) but I felt it was worth it as an up front investment, DS is 4 1/2 and it's the only car seat I've ever bought him, still fits with room to grow!

If you were having trouble with the OTSBH feeling to loose it was too big or you weren't tightening it enough. I have pocket slings, wraps, and ring slings at my store in Wasilla. I offer to fit people and show them how to use the slings. A ring sling needs to be tight to work properly and keep baby secure. You can bring in a sling or wrap you already own and I'll help you figure it out.

My store is Little Britches. Our website is www.littlebritchesalaska.com, you can get our hours, location and phone number there.

I liked my moby and even though I don't use it much anymore, it's how my DH puts our LO down every single time he puts her to sleep. She LOVES it. And I made it by getting 5 yards of fabric and tearing it into three long strips. I was skeptical, but it worked just fine. I think I got a cotton jersey type material. I was able to nurse @ Fred Meyer starting when she was pretty little. It took some practice, but most things do.

Oh, I think mine cost like $1.50 or something. The fabric was super cheap and tearing the material into 20" strips produced three, so I gave two away.

I have a Britax Blvd too and love it. My 2 and a half year old is still RFing in it and comfy with room to grow before turning her. It is pricey though but I got mine on amazon with free shipping when they were running a 25% off sale. And it was sent 2 day fedex so I got it super quick.

Slings/carriers... I had two, well three actually and I loved my ergo (they have a newborn insert thingie you can buy, but my dd was already 5 months when I got my ergo so I never got the newborn insert). I have a pouch one too and can't remember the name of it at the moment. I want a moby for my next baby so I'm junking the walmart cheapie that I hated (and I think has a recall?). I may have to try making my own, sounds simple enough and I've heard that mobies are especially nice for newborns.

I had a Maya Wrap for Lessley and loved it. I would love to try a mai tai (?) style but I'm not planning any more kids.

The grass fed beef at the new Homegrown Market is over $13/pound. I'll have to wait til we move and get a chest freezer to buy a cow one fall for good beef. There's no way I can afford that. I want to go in there and check it out, too, but I know we can't afford to buy anything.

We loved the Ergo. I let DD pick out the colors (got it at Blueberry Baby).

I just tried a carseat from Walmart.com (to see if it would ship) and was told it cannot be shipped to Alaska or Hawaii. I hate WM.
ETA: I tried clothing and it will ship that, but not carseats.

Sarah, ARe you sure you don't have thrush? Have you guys taken any antibotics? I suffered with thrush with ODD for the first 6 months of her life! And I'm going through some nipple pain right now that seems to coorispond to my period. I notice if I drink LOTS of water it feels better but I also think I might have thrush as well. I'm treating it as if I do to see if it goes away.
