more space or less

My 15 month old has been snuggling really close to me lately only to push off of me 20 minutes later. This cycle is repeated several times a night, and he has been doing it for a month or so. He still nurses often (around 4x) at night.

Does this mean he wants more space (as in his own mattress next to ours) or not? If I push him a little further away from me he starts crying and scootches back only to push off of me again.

TIA!

My 7 month old does this too. I think she just likes to move around a lot.

Would like to hear responses.

I think DD does this to regulate her body temp, she rolls against me to warm up, then rolls away when she starts to get sweaty.

Yup, my DD does this as well and I think it is how she regulates her body temp.
