Listeriosis?

I'm 27 weeks, and I woke up this morning with diarrhea. I would normally not be too worried - sometimes you get a bug, and you get tummy troubles. HOWEVER we were without electricity for two days due to a windstorm that knocked out power all over the state, and so we couldn't eat any foods that needed cooked. So one of the foods we ate was sandwiches made with pre-packaged deli meat. Normally I avoid it but selection was slim. So I kind of thought, "Just this once..."

So now I have diarrhea (but no fever, aches, nausea, lethargy, etc) and I'm wondering what are the chances that I've given myself listeriosis??? My youngest seems to also have diarrhea, but I'm not sure if that means it's more likely to be a virus or if it's because he ate the same food that I did and got list. as well.

I suppose if it keeps up I'll go see my FP tomorrow...

With something as vague as diarrhea with no other symptoms... I would not be too worried. Of course you are being smart and seeing the FP tomorrow but it really does not sound like anything more than a virus or if you are used to eating a certain way and were unable to eat that way for a couple days, possibly your stomach freaking out about it (of course, i have a very sensitive stomach so it does not take much to do that to me)

Thanks -- turns out my Dh had some diarrhea as well, and he ate entirely different deli meat than I did. Also, after my bout this morning, I haven't had any more and it's my understanding that if it were listeriosis it would worse. My FP doesn't seem very concerned at all.

I guess it's better to freak out about something that isn't a problem than to blow off something that turns out to be serious!
