clearchannel -did they take over in your area too?

I was reading an article about Howard Stern and got to thinking
Last year there was a big deal with clear channel and a dj in this area they are bullies MPO
a couple of years ago suddenly almost ALL of the local stations in this area became clearchannel stations. The one indie station they try to edge out and broadcast over it at times
It doesn't matter WHAT kind of music you want to listen to -its all owned by clearchannel
So I was curious have they bought /corporate takeover of the radio stations in your area?

We have 1 clear channel station, don't know what they are doing to the concert promotions around here, and they have a lot of billboards too...

I just blogged recently about it (link in my sig) - a big rant actually. They SUCK.

YES! And Howard is off!

Luckily, we have one station that is really cool and every now and then they remind you they are owned by a big insurance company back east who don't know anything about music!!!

So, it basically everything from Cold PLay to The Dead Kennedy's.

Yeah - sort of.

Denver has a pretty big market for some reason.

The station I listen to is clear channel (KBCO) - but in a weird way. It is the same station that has been there for like 30 years and hasn't changed formatting that entire time. Which is pretty cool. They still play some random stuff! And they still do Studio C and all sorts of cool stuff.

I live in central FL and HS got knocked off our clear channel station here. It is a great FM talk radio station and now it has to air re-runs of another talk show in its place....

Clearchannel has taken over several stations here (with some outcry in the newspapers), but there's a superb "community" radio station that we listen to. There are no real commercials, although "program underwriters" (usually small local businesses) are mentioned at the beginning of each hour and there are two fund-drives each year. We always pledge. When clearchannel was busy taking over stations here, I noticed that our station gave a lot of airplay to Tom Petty's song "The Last Deejay."

Down with clearchannel!
