paint for flower pots

I have this idea my ds and I like of 4 and 5 year old kids decorating flower pots and then planting flowers or other plants at my ds's b-day party. But it occurred to me all our kid paints are water soluble. Maybe not so good on a flower pot. What would you use to decorate flower pots?

We did this for our dd's 5 birthday and it was a big hit.

These non-toxic acrylic paints were used-

You can put a coat of gesso down fist for brighter colors, especially if you are using the red clay pots. The acrylic dries very quickly and you can speed things up even more with a blow dryer.

The pony pack plant starters give the kids instant results.

Check out the craft store, they can driect you to the correct paint to use. You either need outdoor paint or the spray that goes on top when done
