I went to the gym last night!!!!! I just did 30 mins of cardio, but Im way proud of myself. Gonna see if DH wants to go tonight!

I weighed myself this morning, it being the first of March, and I lost 1.5 pounds! Im at 175.8. Im happy with that as I thought I would be more around 178. I have a goal to lose 6 pounds this month and start April at 169.

Food has been good lately, I bought a ton of meat last week! I bought some salmon but I dunno, its kinda mushy. I love my morning salmon but this salmon has turned me off of it. I think I might use it to make salmon cakes. Anyone have a good recipe?

No way it's not MARCH?! Oh dear, DD has ballet today first thing monday mornings now, both have gymnastics and I'm trying to get to the gym mon/wed and schedule everything we need to do in one week...I think I need 30 day hours and 8 days in a week

My goal this month is to make it to April, is that a goal? Somehow , and I' posted about this in the end of feb thread, I just totally stopped caring about the difference between 2 sizes, and I am like a hundred percent now. I think it took actually getting rid of them. A size 2 is fine I tell myslef, I cannot be bootalicious any smaller LOL!

Way to go crunchy! I've been eating on the go too much lately. I made a huge pot of lentil soup for myself, they only like it once in a while but I've been eating it every day. I am really glad to have you guys to hear from, it keeps me in check. I loosened up a bit and realized my "natural" habbits are better for ME, and not necessary the exact program someone devises, which I guess is the point of the primal blueprint on mark's daily apple anyways whoever follows that....

*I* feel better eating leaner, not too many nuts and bacon really makes me feel ill. I love the flavor, and I eat a tiny bit but i realized fattier meats make me queasy. I eat HUGE amounts of veggies/fruit though, and i'm back totally off dairy.

I so do not wnat to cook tonight. I think i may make a "fend for yourselves" kind of dinner, and just ask everyone last minute what they want. We have lots of bits of this and that so i'll try to devise something fun looking for the kids and probably just make DH and myself the wine marinated herring we have.

I want to lurk a bit in this thread, we've been flirting with grain-free for a few months, but not really making it all the way. I think DH would feel better and lose weight if we did more in the grain-free/low carb direction (can't quite tell what his body needs, he's confusing) and I want to lurk here since we just started a couch-to-5k together. We've been gluten and dairy free for 2.5 years now.
Hi Tanya! Welcome, I think you'll really like grain free if you do give it a try. I never thought I could, now I can't imagine not doing it.

Yesterday made up for the day before of not being hungry. I ate all day long. Pretty good carb wise....except for chocolate. Had a great workout. Today is my day off from working out, except maybe a nice walk or hike if the weather cooperates.

Have a great day!

Hey we were eating buddies then, I seriously didn't stop munching once. This is almost unbelievable LOL but I ate about 1.5 pounds of carrots and almost a cup of almonds yesterday . My favorite combination is carrots and almonds, I don't know why, I made a salad dish out of them and ate the whole dam thing. If anyone likes that carrot salad type thing, this is AWESOME.

I use a food processor to make it super quick. Grate the carrots iwth large grating attachment, dump in bowl. Either grate or dice one tart firm apple. Chop the almonds in the FP, dump in bowl.. Sprinkle with sea salt, a little homemade mayo, and a drizzle of honey if you can to bring out the sweet.

OMG seriously good, and SO simple. It's even better with a handful of dried cherries/cranberries or golden raisins. If you like spices it's really good with a little curry powder too

I am totally in to cold salad dishes like this. I also have been making celery salad, with celery, walnuts, cranberries, red onion, homemade mayo.

I had a great workout monday, my back is 100% now and I did walking lunges, deadlifts (dumbells romanian style) T-bar rows (OMG these are SO killer for that thickness to your back) one arem dumbell rows, chest press with dumbells on incline and flyes, dips....and some abs, I think that was it.

I plan to go fishing saturday and catch enough to have fish all next week. We can each get two salmon and if we do well I'll be one fat and happy camper.

Hoping to have a good workout tonight. It's our only daytime that we don't have an activity between gymnastics/dance so i'm looking forward to doing a craft and just playing with the kids until tonight

Hello my favorite low carbin' ladies!

I feel 100% better than last month, I really think my antidepressant was making me feel wacky.

My goals for this month:

sun salutations every morning
continue push up challenge
avoid sugar, focus on fruit to fill that need rather than letting it get out of control and grabbing crap.
Weight train 3 times a week

Today is day two post dental surgery. (I can't chew anything for 7 days) I IF'd breakie, had tomato basil bisque with 4 really soft poached eggs in it for lunch. Just sucked down a whey protein smoothie with coconut milk, some pineapple and frozen mango. Had to add a lemon's worth of juice because it was SO SWEET!!! I never sweeten my green smoothies, so this was yucky sweet. The lemon made it tasty though, and very filling. I'm going to weight train tonight with dh, but he wants me to take it easy as I'm still pretty swollen. I'm making french onion soup for dinner, and I'll just sip on the broth.
Oh lilearthmama i'm thinking of you! Last year I had a 3 month period of some major dental work, but I feel SO much better.

I actually eat quite a bit of fruit because i just feel I need it and I don't want to eat sugar.

Tonight I had a great workout. Unfortunately I forgot to charge my ipod so I was forced to catch up on the latest gym gossip and ended up getting interupted too much until I put on my mean don't mess with me face lol.

I did supersets of 20 squats wtih 135lb, pullups then pushups to failure. Then I did a lot for my shoulders, and dips. I saw a friend so i did cardio with him on this stepping machine thing i don't usually do but it was nice and different.

I made a huge chickpea/lentil curry for lunch to share with my mama friend, which i know isn't super low carb/primal but I just feel better when I eat some lentils. It's LOADED with good fats from coconut milk/oil, and lots of veggies. I make it more of a soup/stew consistency and don't eat it with grains

Thanks lisamarie!!! I'm less swollen today, so that's good. I was really violently ill last night though, so I didn't work out. I wonder if it's just because I'm almost doing an involuntary detox? All of those liquids just upsetting my stomach maybe?

Glad I'm not alone on the fruit thing. I realised how ridiculous it was of my to shun fruit and then binge on chocolate or other crap. Sheesh, just eat the freakin' pineapple!

I don't know what kind of surgery you had, I had a root canal and some extensive repair and 3 crowns, and my mom got beautiful full upper dentures. While very difficult for her to recover from that (she has a bad gag reflux and they couldn't get the right fit for a while) it solved SO many of her sleep/headache problems. And she looks beautiful and not in pain all the time

I'm so sorry you were so sick. So much happens to your body during the trauma of any surgery, plus the meds you obviously have to take etc, it is really taxing! I'm glad you are feeling better today!

I LOVE pinenapple! i go through days where i eat a couple small apples, some banana, maybe a little dried fruit in a salad, etc. I don't really limit it so much because it just totally curbs any craving i'd have fora nything else. I would much rather munch of a huge apple for 10 minutes than take one tiny bite of chocolate!

I had some gum burned away so they could repair a root and some jaw bone. I have braces (for the second time ) for another year or so. All of this to correct my bite and hopefully stop my mouth, face and head from chronically hurting.

I love fruit as well. I still have to work on eating bananas (my favorite) because every time I look at one I think ''OMG, so many carbs!''

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I finally switched gyms, and I'm really excited to be closer, have a larger space to workout, no sleezy comments and teenagers, and get back to my routine. I have been dreading workouts because I just dislike the low level of moral at this gym I've been going. The new one is a bit "snootier" if you will, but I"ll take snobs and stuck up noses over it.

And it may be just hear say; most the time people tell me a place is "snobby" I don't see it. but then I'm not looking for trouble either , i'm just nice to everyone.

Anyways! Gonna workout hard tonight, and I"m really excited about the heated lap pool. Tomorrow at 4:30 am i'm going Salmon fishing wish me luck!! I am dreaming of fresh fish for dinner, BBQ'd over a cedar plank. My kids have told me i am not to come home without one either LOL

I am still going to hang out here and post relevant information, but I am swaying a little "un" primal/low carb. I am eating quinoa and lentils, lots of them. I have really lightened up on the fattier meats and such, though I do use lots of good olive oil and coconut oil. I just feel so much better. I was really sluggish and feelin cruddy for a while, when I realized i need to focus on ME, and not what the idealism to someone else is. In fact I do believe this falls in to the Primal Blueprint site, which is why I actually have respect for the Marks daily apple and his philosophy.

I am really excited to have my energy levels return. And it is necessary now that I have 3 days of gymnastics/dance iwth the kids, and trying to homeschool keep a 3000 square foot house clean, dinner every day and make my workouts!! Good grief, I know a mom who has a nanny, how on earth does she complain so much LOL!!! I dream of having a housekeeper once a week, but it's not gonna happen

SO off topic, but dammit, can i complain for a moment, that I have to get a bird. I am SO not a pet person, but kids have been begging for a pet for AGES, and i will not have reptiles, dogs, cats, or vermon of any kind I would rather have a cow live in my kitchen isnt' that terrible?! I decided if I get a pretty white lattice bird cage, it will look nice in my green room, and it's over hard wood floor

Awsome about the new gym!

OMG I'm so jealous about the salmon fishing!!! Mmmmmmm fresh salmon!

I'm glad you're doing what's right for you. I think you're making good choices, it's not like your stuffing your gob with wonder bread and ho-hos!

Maybe you could start a workout thread. I love reading about your workouts and you give such good advice. I'm such a noob, but really aspire to one day be at your level!!!

LMAO about the bird! Hillarious!

OMG yer too sweet, and fun lilearthmama. I wish I had super cool IRL friends LOL!

I like hearing about your food as well. And you have a baby, you are very impressive and do all you should at this time. And you are so motivated in the right way, that your workouts will probably grow with your kids. You'll be kickin some booty.

I started practicing some yoga sequence yesterday, and it actually loosens me up a lot. I need to start doing this every day.

Hi ladies! I am sick, I am congested, and it's all my fault. I knew I was on the verge of coming down with something, I knew I should have taken some time off from workouts, I knew that....but I didn't listen to myself. I worked out hard as ever (even hit a new high for dips for me) and now I'm paying for it big time. I'm taking the weekend off, then I'll re-evaluate how I'm feeling.

Pineapple sounds yummy right now!

I hope your mouth and head is feeling better LilEM!

Good luck salmon fishing Lisa, I want salmon too! Glad you found a new gym too, working out is too much fun to have it ruined by a bad environment. For me, and I bet for you too, gym time is a bit sacred. It is how I choose to take care of myself, and I don't want to be interrupted by anything.
Feel better mama, I've done that to myself before. I am eating a ginormeous salad with every veggie imaginable and tuna with some blasamic vinegar and olive oil. I'm at my mom's staying over with the kids so we can go fishing early, and she cooked for the kids while I had an awesome un interrupted workout.

Have a good weekend all!!

hiya ladies!

Nym- huge congrats on the weight loss and working out!

ryleighsmama- hope you get to feeling better soon! take it easy!

lil_earthmomma- hope your mouth is better soon- I missed the posts about dental surgery- hopefully you heal well without any issue!

lisamarie- Please don't leave- we'll miss you! I think what is lc varies for the individual and we all have different needs. But as you said we have to follow our bodies and be mindful of what works for us, not anyone else. I hear ya' on time management- it is tough at times!

doing pretty well here! had some higher carb days w/ more fruit, but I am trying to back off of the fruit though. Ever since the cursed antibiotics my gut is kinda messed up. It really really makes me angry after working so long to balance out. I am the opposite of you guys though- I would rather have the chocolate than the apple. One huge bar of the dark chocolate I get has less carbs than the apple and the chocolate satisfies me easier. The apple gives me cravings as well. Of course the apple is more of a whole food, but we all have our vices

I have been working out everyday. I dusted off one of my old yoga tapes- this one is from 10 yrs ago now I believe when I first started yoga and is fairly challenging with a buttload of chaturangas. Currently I am not able to do those very well. I didn't do a lot of yoga after my last baby, but right now I am really into it. I am a workout hip-hoper. I just go after what I enjoy. I am loving the current schedule I am on-
mon- weights- squats- deadlifts and overhead presses-+ pushups, pullups and hanging leg raises
tues- sprints
wed-bodyweight exercises
thurs- yoga
fri- hiit
weekend - hiking

I have been doing lots of yoga as well as I said I am really enjoying it these days. I am only working out 20-30 min a day though and am making sure I am enjoying it- doing p90x last year really burned me out. I am looking forward to regaining my strength but I will enjoy the process as well.

I did have some grains on Friday- we were out of town and ate at Chipolte as I really wanted to try them out as I heard they were good w/ allergens(there are none locally). Anyway as it was friday it was a meatless day so blackbeans were my only protein option there- I had a small bit of rice as well. I am fasting on Fri's though so no other snacks and just a bit of eggs w/ some veggies for bfast. Oh, and we are trialing grassfed butter here- wish us luck!

Next week I hope to continue as this week, but do better w/ food. I need to meal plan better than I have the last few weeks as I have just been winging it way toooo much. Oh, and while in St Louis I bought some coconut aminos as a soy sauce replacer(we are soy and gluten free here) so I am anxious to try that out and it certainly isn't lc.
OMG crunchy I love chocolate too. I found this orange chocolate bar that may be the worse discovery for me of the century.

I have been doing SO much better since just realizing I need to tailor things more to my own individual needs. This means some lentils, and quinoa. I'll eat a little rice if I "needed" to, or buckwheat. I haven't been craving fruit the last couple days, it comes in waves.

I seriously cannot get enough salad. I think i should limit myself to one huge one day, because I was a little big gassy last night . I must have eaten 5 pounds of raw vegetation lunch and dinner.

I KICKED my booty yesterday. I worked my legs so hard my butt is actually sore, which doesn't really happen much.

Tonight I'm making the famous greek feast, it seems to be my go to sunday thing. Everyone seems to love it more than anything else and i have leftovers for the week.

So after deciding I cannot deal with a bird, we are off in a few to buy some hampsters. I am NONE too thrilled :. But I'm not ready for a dog for sure right now

Something to consider, since you've got lots of good habits in place already, would be a few visits to an acupuncturist. I think it goes a lot quicker when it's subtle things out of balance in an otherwise fairly healthy person with good habits.

I'm taking this approach for some things for me, since I'm so much healthier than a couple years ago.

And I'm lurking, the salads and such sound so yummy, but raw veggies (and fruit in excess) just isn't our friend right now, our digestion isn't good. But your food discussion is so yummy, I should be able to adapt things to light cooking that we'll deal better with.

Tanya- that is a thought on the accupuncterist, but we don't have any locally. I was going to start brewing kombucha and was wondering if maybe that would help as well. Any other ideas you have?

OH, and lisamarie I used to love the Lindt Orange Chocolate as it is super duper yummy but unfortunately it has soy lecithin!

And I love feeling sore! I have been that way for the past 2 weeks and it is wonderful!

Oh, and I had an awesome salad last night and today that I made-
spinach
thin strips of carrot- I use the peeler
roasted red pepper
carmelized onion
tomato

toasted almond slivers
bacon
shrimp(I seasoned w/ some fire oil- sea salt- chipolte and paprika)
dressing- dijoun mustard w/ evoo and a touch of honey(tsp or less )-

Everyone loved it ! It is not super low carb depending on how much of the carbier veggies you use.

I went ahead and did my yoga again today and can already see my strength gaining!

I was going to make a lemon curd dessert today but haven't yet. I am not sure if I should as it will likely incite cravings. I have just recently went back off of fruit and am even out of my beloved dark chocolate.
