How many ounces?

I know every baby is different, but around 6 weeks to 2 months, how many ounces of breastmilk would you leave a sitter with for an evening out?

This will be our first evening out without the baby.

At that age I left 3oz of expressed milk for every 2 hours. DD did not take the entire bottle, however. She usually took 2oz at a time. Have you tried a before and after nursing weight? That can help you see what your LO takes (though not all sessions will be the same).

HTH!

Thanks! That's a lot of help!

It really depends on how long a "night out" is, and baby's feeding pattern. My little guy cluster feeds in the morning, and again in the evening, so he would need at least 4 oz for every 2 hours we were gone (he eats 4 oz at each meal, more or less). But when we went out in the afternoon, he only ate once in 4 hours.

My general rule of thumb has been to leave an ounce for every hour I am gone and feed RIGHT before I go and plan to feed again when I get home. And if I am gome more than 3 hours I try to pump as well.
