10mo playing roughly?

So tell me if this is normal or if my 10mo is playing super rough lol When we are playing on the floor or playing in our bed, he likes to pull at/ smack/ bite at our faces. I've started stopping him and saying "gentle touch".

I guess we rough house a little with him (tickling, chasing the dog around the house) but we are certainly not biting at or pulling on his face! Is this normal? Am I doing the right things to correct him?

Same here! Sophia's favorite thing is to stand holding onto my hair, pull it and smack me in the face. I keep trying to teach her to be gentle but I think she doesnt quite get it yet. I worry when she's playing with dss, she always "hurts" him and I dont want him to think is ok to hit, or for him to get mad and hit her back. I tell him that is our job to teach her how to be nice and gentle because she doesnt know how to yet.

She has learned to hug and he always goes to her for hugs, sometimes you find him laying on the floor. Sophia pulling up on him and "beating" him up. It's really funny, but I try to make a point that we need to be nice and gentle.

Today we were sitting on the couch and she banged her head super hard against mine and she started crying. I think it'll take awhile for them to register that things hurt.

Oh yea, ds does that too (and has since at least 10mo) - I sort of figured it was just testing out his own strength and seeing what it's like - he does it all over the house too - banging on stuff, bang on us, bang on dog, etc.. We do a lot of - 'gentle touch' and make the baby sign for gentle. I often take his hand and show him what gentle touch IS too. Sometimes when he's banging on me I will take his hand and show him how you touch mommy's nose and mommy's ears, etc...

Thanks Aura Glad to know it's not just us! He has started beating up the dog too lol!!! Thankfully, the dog is completely in love with Rowan and takes having his ears chewed on/being smacked in the face as a sign of affection lol

We have been working on "gentle" with ds since he was about 7 months. It's a tough one 'cause he gets so excited sometimes he just can't control himself.

Sounds like my 10.5mo DS! He pulls hair, pulls ears, eyebrows, mouths, noses, etc; hits, bites . . . but all in fun (for him anyway!)
Today, while he was nursing, he hit his hand against my shirt, then against my bare skin, & realized that the bare skin made a much better "slap" sound . . . so he giggled and continued to do it over & over!

I've tried showing him "nice" touches and telling him to be "nice" - I like the idea of adding in the sign.
Not much help here, but your LO is definitely not alone on this!
