Hi, my dd was hit by a car last month and suffered tramatic brain injury. We are now in a rehab facility and on the road to her recovery. It would be so helpful to connect with anyone that has been down this road.

My DD2 didn't have a TBI, but did have a hypoxic brain injury at birth. Having a child with a brain injury is incredible hard and scary. So very many unknowns. I am so so sorry for what you and your family are going through. I know every situation is different and I can only imagine what you are going through. Sending you cyber-hugs. You are not alone.

!!!!!

No TBI here...but lots of support for you!!!

How's she doing? How are YOU doing? And I see you have a new baby, too, are you getting help/support? Friends/family?

Here's more virtual hugs!!!

My DD had an anoxic brain injury at 4 months old, but it is presenting a lot like a TBI. We spent 6 weeks in the hospital, and currenlty have 7 therapy appts a week (not to mention all the specialists follow ups).

Everything is still early for you, so my advice is limited to:
1. Take care of yourself (If you wear yourself out, who will take care of your dd?)

2. Make sure they are working on what you will need when you get home. You want to make sure everything is there before you leave rehab.

I remember how scary this was/is. Please know we are here to support you and give you a place to vent/cry/whatever.

I don't have a child who suffered a TBI, my childhood friend did when he was 23, he is 26 now. He is living in a "facility" but is slowly making progress. (hugs)

Thank you all. She is doing a lot better. She just started talking again last week. She had some paralasis on her right side so they are really working on trying to get her to move it more. I'm starting to see little bits of her personlity come back, which is so unbeliavable. I keep thinking back to that first day when they didn't know if she would survive or not. But, the unknowns are really hard. We have had a lot of support from many diffrent people. I'm trying to take it one day at a time.
