ugh- I am blowing this challenge. Like last night- DH and I had to go wash one of tractors in the dealership and it is 45 minutes away- it was kind of a last minute thing- so by the time we were done we just grabbed supper over there- it was $8 at McDs (DH wanted a nice supper- I was the bummer there). But still. Money just 'flies' out of our hands....

Well, I blew it a bit yesterday. We were offered free tickets to see a kids show and I took our hosts out for lunch as a 'thank you'. And I paid the toll for the bridge. $36 for lunch and $2.50 for the bridge. Really fun day though and I paid for everything with cash.

~~~~~~~~~Home Improvement Month at my house~~~~~~~~~~
Big goals this month:
HUGE food co-op order. We order food 4 times a year, this includes all of our rice, beans, g/f flour, oil, sugar, nuts, spices, oats, etc, etc, etc.
We are painting our garage this month and I am keeping track of what I spend. Paint and supplies will run me about $500.
We are planting our garden and I need to place an order for more peas and potatoes. I am also checking out a load of compost to see what that would cost.
We need a few homeschooling supplies as well. Paper, printer ink, next set of math books...about $100.
Because of those big expenses (planned and budgeted), I need to tighten up the rest of our budget. So, my big goal this month is to reduce the frivolous spending. I spent nearly $200 last month on coffee for me and treats and toys for the kids.
Mar 1 -- painting supplies
Mar 5 -- groceries
Mar 6 -- 36.17 lunch, 2.50 toll
Yesterday was my shopping day - I generally only shop once/week, so even though it adds up fast, that's pretty much it. I did manage to avoid a Walgreen's purchase, I was feeling awful last week and had planned to get some decongestant, but work was so busy, I never made it and now I feel much better.
I went out last night with some friends and the beer was on them because I cooked dinner, so that was nice. I've not left the house today, so it's a no spend day!
Good for you. I have 2 dead air conditioners in my garage that I was foolish enough not to make a stink about when we bought the house. $40 to unload them. I really need to suck it up and just pay the disposal fees.
a. Who you are I'm a single sahm of five kids in Ontario Canada.
b. Where you are going (your financial goals) pay down debt & save
c. How you plan to get there I am going to start tracking every penny again and use cash as much as possible. I am also going to become the waste police and see what I can do about reducing the amount of food waste we seem to have.
My key:
- no spend
- unplanned spending
- resisted the Tim Hortons or corner store cravings
