October 2009 DDC chat for March

Thread Starter
Wow! It is already our second month in LWAB? Why does time just keep flying by? Thanks for the reminder to start a new thread, Jen!

You know what I'm excited about? The time changes in 13 days! I love when we get that extra hour of daylight and every day gets a little bit longer. I'm looking forward to the warm days of summer and my favorite meal of heirloom tomatoes with basil and fresh mozzarella drizzled with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

I love the new pictures of Millie, Jen. She is just a beautiful little girl. They are all growing up too fast.

firewoman, i know what you mean about DST. i struggle with SAD most winters, so moving the clocks forward is like a major holiday for me that makes me

i'm loving all the photos so far! I'll have to upload the latest one where Jack is investigating the camera.

is anyone else's LO showing interest in food? he only turned four months last week, but for the past month he's been watching me very intently when i eat and the past two weeks he does a chewing motion with his mouth when i have yogurt or bananas. i can't believe he'd be ready to "eat" now, so i'm wondering if anyone else in our DDC is going through this too.

beatgenxer- my little guy definitely wants to eat! I make him some breastmilk slushies (just partially frozen milk) he loves being included in meal time
post #4 of 150
I can't believe Callum is 5 months. Yep for about the last month he has to be up at the table with us for dinner but so far is content with a toy.

the bm slushies sound great, i just not energetic enough to pump right now.

March has started out like a lion for us, both kids are sick, with babe still waking about every 1.5 hrs at night.

At least the lecithin seems to be working, no plugged ducts for almost two weeks now

Lyra stares us down when we eat and watches the whole 'fork to mouth" thing. But we're holding out, much to everyone's dismay. She's definitely not ready- though she grabbed a piece of lettuce off my plate the other day. I let her have it. She had NO idea what to do with it. She ended up dropping it on the floor and the dog ate it. LOL.

W start parent-and-tot swimming lessons tonight. I'm really excited. She's definitely a water baby.

I often just hand express a little bit before dinner into a dish and stick it in the freezer. You don't need much maybe 1/2 oz, i just stick it in the freezer about 20 minutes before mealtime. It is fun watching the look on their face as they try to figure out the new cold sensations. Have fun!

I've been MIA but now that I'm a SAHM I've got more time to get on here and catch up on everything I missed.

My DS seems like he is teething like crazy but no teeth yet. Anyone got any teeth yet?

Nate just turned 4 months this past weekend. He's just so cute I can hardly stand it!
http://lutzspidle.blogspot.com/2010/...onths-old.html
I go back to work on the 16th, and I'm dreading it... I will make it work, but I'm worried about not pumping enough.
And for extra fun, Nate's got what looks like thrush. We have a ped appointment on Friday so I'll get him checked out then and hopefully this won't impact nursing right when we're already going to be stressed by me restarting work.

OMG Nate is so cute!!

Wow..I can't believe it's already March. It's hard to believe that in 9 days, Dylan will be 5 months. We are really struggling with naps right now. I'm trying to keep it in perspective...he used to never nap, so I should be grateful that he naps a little. But those 25-30 minutes aren't enough..for either of us!

Fortunately, Dylan decided to like the stroller, so we've been walking a lot. He naps in there which is nice. But, we come home, he's ready to play and I'm exhausted!

He is definitely interested in food. Watching us eat, crying for and reaching for any sort of drink. We've done the slushies a couple of times, but he's kinda weirded out by the coldness of it.

Here's a couple of pictures from the other day:

I wish we could do a swim class but it's too cold even to leave the house most of the time. Clementine hates wind, just hates it.

She turned 5 months on February 25th! Here are some pictures:

And here we are in matching hats made by a friend:

Sleep isn't good around here and she's teething but nothing's come through. It feels like it's taking forever. And she's in no way ready for solids...she even gags and spits out teething tablets.

But she does roll both ways and smile and kick and all that good baby stuff. I also hold her for all her naps...it's when she nurses, don't have a choice.

Oh I love hearing from you all again! The pictures are GREAT!
We're at talulaclarie.blogspot.com if anyone wants to keep up. (I love baby blogs!)

Lu still isn't rolling. Tummy time usually ends in spit up so I kinda hate doing it. I always have to wash the tummy mat. And if I lay a burp cloth down first, well, then she will only mash her face into it to chew on it instead of pushing up because burp cloths are one of her favorite things to chew on. They say all that spit up stuff subsides around 5 months (which is in 6 days for us!), so here's hoping!

We're gonna start rice cereal in a few days when my dh returns from out of town. We just recently took a trip from Indiana to California. She was a doll to travel with. (Thank you Lu!!!). She charmed passengers and pilots alike. I was so proud of her for being so flexible and easy-going. Love her!!!

We've been having a tough few weeks. Liam is still teething (it's been nearly 2 months now) but I can finally see them coming up. He has had a molar pushing up for a month now.

He is sick with a cough this week and this morning I finally caught it as well
So combining that with the slushy weather I've been stuck in the house now for a week (the sun is out and I have a bad case of cabin fever)

The interest in eating is adorable he has been doing this thing with his hands where he grabs at something then brings his hand to his mouth as if he were holing a utensil (I love it) today he decided he wants to drink my water every time I try to drink he grabs at my glass and pulls it toward his mouth which is also cute however it's making it really hard to drink my water.

It's great to see every ones pictures. I'll post some when I take new ones. My computer crashed a couple days ago and I lost all my photos I've been too crazed to back up since the little guy was born. Oh well live and learn.

Thanks....when I asked my friend to make them, I thought I was just being a dork but the response I get is pretty awesome. People love it.

Jack has the biggest, most inquisitive eyes!

I love seeing everyone's photos! Pandme, the hats are insanely adorable. I love them.

I've been sort of awol from the boards for a while, motherhood was just so overwhelming -- in ways both good and bad, mostly good! It's still overwhelming but it's nice to "see" everyone from the DDC again. Today I tried for three hours to get my obviously tired boy to nap... no dice. He'd yawn, rub his eyes, eyes would start to close, then POW! Eyes pop open and he's ready to smile and play. I have no idea where he gets all this energy from. I finally gave up and put him in his bouncy chair right outside the bathroom door while I took a shower and, yes, you guessed it, by the time I got out of the shower he was asleep. Go figure.

Is anyone else teething? Elijah is drooling a lot, and chomps on my fingers like they're corn on the cob, but I can't figure out if it's teething or not. I think maybe it's the beginning of it. He's not really interested in any of the teething toys I have for him, though -- can't quite figure how to get them in his mouth reliably yet.

Ms. Cellaneous, do we have the same baby?

I too have been awol from MDC - overwhelmed etc. Izzy is a pretty intense baby and I have no idea what I am doing most days! Just making it up as I go along.

So good to "see" you all again.

Everybody left me and didn't put a link of the new thread onto the old thread, lol.

Stephanie, I actually prefer real time over DST, lol. I don't like losing that hour of sleep every spring and feeling "behind" all summer, lol.

Rebecca, no food yet. But I have given him "bites" from an empty fork. He seemed to think that was pretty neat.

Spiralshell, I hope your transition back to work is smooth. That was such a cute photo series in your blog.

Friendlee, B still isn't rolling either. He did do a couple of tummy-to-back things when he was 3 months old, but I'm not calling them "rolls" b/c they were more like he had been holding his head up, then his heavy head pulled his body over w/ gravity, rather than him using his core muscles to actually roll over, lol.

littlegreenlady, for the cough. B has a cough too and sounds miserable.

Pandme, I did eliminate dairy and eggs, but never did do a total elimination diet. While I could probably find a way to survive on that, I don't know if my DD would be able to, and I certainly wouldn't want to subject my poor DH to it, lol. So I'd still have to be buying normal food for them and then the special food for me, and then there's be the time factor of making twice as many meals and stuff. I just don't know if it's doable. Especially since I'm not convinced that it's even diet-related at all, b/c an IRL friend of mine had facial eczema just like B's and said that just plain Vaseline cleared it up.

And here's a few posts from the old thread, lol.

No new advancements or anything (i.e. no rolling over, etc. lol). Just wanted to say hi again and share another picture. I felt bad b/c I was thinking about his face again and I couldn't remember the last time I'd even just TAKEN a picture of him, much less uploaded one to FB or any of my message boards. So here he is.

And here's me, at about 9 months I think. Maybe he looks like me?

Jen, DS goes through sleep phases. He has good nights and good naps and bad nights and bad naps. I don't notice any particular pattern that causes the good versus the bad.
