OMG, she is cutting her first tooth! Bottom front tooth, I can see it and feel it. It just cut through today....you can feel it a lot more now than this morning.

I thought she was teething pretty hard...my son was 7.5 months before this happened though. Wasn't expecting it so soon.
I have heard girls teeth first but wow, that's a huge difference!
We don't have a humidifier since it's so humid here already and dh's allergies are pretty bad as it is (are are ds's). He actually occasionally runs a dehumidifier to get rid of the musty smell in our apartment.

At dd's well baby checkup she'd dropped in the percentiles down to 75th for height and 60th for weight (down from 97th for weight and 99th for height at birth), but I think they mismeasured her (it was student interns), because they said she was 25 inches but I measured her myself today and got 26 1/2 inches!

Well, here I am again just finding the thread several pages in! ooops!

We've been busy with a trip to Lake Tahoe to play in the snow and visit friends, loads of playdates for my older son, and then 2 weeks of sick. The boys were only sick about 3 days each, and my husband and I got the worst of it. Pretty darn sure it was the dreaded swine flu!

Devin is 17.5lbs now at 4 months 2 weeks. Not sure his length, haven't measured him in a month (ooops, do we keep forgetting to go to the well baby visits?! haha). But, last month he was 3 inches longer than at birth. He was born with massive amounts of blonde hair just like his brother and his Daddy. But, it seems to slowly be falling out, and I'm spying some darker hair popping up. Really wondering if it's going to be dark like mine! So odd to me that at 4 months in it would *just* start falling out. Anyone else have that happen?

He's a really mellow baby. He likes at least 30 minutes (sometimes more) of "alone time" in the morning where he just happily kicks and talks and plays in his bouncy seat. It's nice for me as I can get my coffee and putter about online for a bit with 2 free hands and him right near me. My 3 year old busies himself with yogurt and then trains in the morning, so I really enjoy my alone time! He sleeps well (at least compared to how his brother), naps fairly regularly and smiles, smiles, smiles.

And now some pix -

Talula was also born with tons of blonde hair! And she also just started losing a little last month at 4 months. (We just find some stray hairs on her clothing but she still has a good full head of it!)

She has her first cold!!! I am really hating it and it scares me.
We run the humidifier, but it doesn't really seem like it makes a difference. I also take her in the bathroom for a 1/2 hour each morning with the hot shower going. I have been nursing every 2 hours. I give her saline solution up the nose and suck it out before bed. I gave her a bath with the California Baby cold/flu bubble bath and rubbed the Little Noses version of Vic's on her chest (don't worry, no camphor or menthol in it).

Still, she sounds awful and I know she just wants her paci but she can't breathe when she has it. She's so tired, poor thing. (So am I...) Anyone have any other miracle solutions to get rid of this cold faster?

How long do you guys think this will last? (asuuming it's just a run of the mill cold)
I hope Talula feels better soon! I'm sorry I don't have any advice, but it sounds like you're doing everything you can... I'm sure it will pass quickly. (Though it will probably seem an eternity for you, I'm sorry!)

Re: hair, Eli has a baby mullet. It's hysterical. Blonde peach fuzz on the top and sides, and longer brown hair at the very back. Or as we say, business up top, party in the back!

Has anyone done a vacation or airplane travel with the babe? We've been told that now is a good time, before he gets mobile, and after this long winter I'd love to go somewhere sunny. Dreaming of Florida or maybe even the Caribbean if I can find a deal. Any advice on where to stay, what to do, how to travel?
Yep, we just traveled from Indiana to California (by airplane) and THAT's where this darn cold came from! Grrr. My sister traveled with my niece as early as 6 weeks. That little girl has been all over the country in her little year of life. And she's never gotten sick.

She was a wonderful traveler. She slept a lot. When she didn't sleep, she was pretty interested in the fold down tray, the window shade, the seat belt, my hand, my cup, etc. And when she couldn't be distracted and wasn't tired, I nursed. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

We can now add my DS to the toothy babies. His first tooth popped through sometime in the last 24 hours. I wasn't expecting it, so when DH noticed it this morning and told me that DS has a tooth, I was like "NO he doesn't!" lol

Hope it's going smoothly for your LO, Harmony. She was VERY fussy today and the darn thing is through the gum....why all the fussiness? She was worse today than when the darn thing was pushing through.

I cannot pretend to understand all the mysteries of teething. All I know is I am SICK of the half hour nap every hour and a half thing we have going on. Oh, sometimes I'll get a 3 hour one, like once a week. It's not enough.

Hi all! I haven't been keeping up with these threads since our DDC closed, but I'm loving seeing all these cute pictures now! I can't believe how old they all look. Jaim is now 5 months, and is the sweetest little guy! He's very long and skinny, weighing only just under 13 pounds. Sometimes it worries me, but he's rolling over both ways, loves to "stand" and is such a happy baby. The doctor hasn't said anything about it, so I'm not going to worry. His sister was skinny too, but not this skinny.
Here's his 5 month picture.
He smiles at EVERYONE! It's so cute. He loves looking at people and being out and about. He's so much happier when we are outside or shopping. But when it comes time to eat, he wants it to happen in a completely quiet and empty room. Which, of course, makes it kind of hard!
He's been drooling and biting on toys/fingers for months now, but no teeth yet. His sister was the same way; she got her first tooth at about 7 months.
I have been staying away from dairy since he was 8 weeks. I don't worry about the dairy in bread, crackers, chocolate, etc., but I still definitely stay away from cow's milk butter, cheese, yogurt, and milk. I'm hoping that he will be okay with me eating dairy when he's a year old. We'll see...
I'm really looking forward to trying solids in another month or so.

Ugh, between teething and the whole 6 month wonder weeks thing, we are having a hard time. She is so fussy. Just a fussy, fussy kid.

I can't believe Dylan is 5 months today. I want to know what happened to my good sleeping baby, though?! He's waking every two hours at night now. What the heck is going on?

And, what's up with screaming at the dinner table? You cannot eat or drink in front of him. He gets really frustrated. We give him toys and that just doesn't do anything for him. He stares so intently on our glasses and food. He doesn't know what food is, but it's as if he does!

My son was 5 months yesterday as well.
I hope you get some sleep soon!
Liam is doing the same thing when I eat or drink. My mom suggested getting him a cup and utensils etc. to play with. I haven't tried it yet.

I weighed Israel at 5 months and he is 13 lbs 14 oz.. tiny too. Smaller than dd was.
I am doing a dairy trial over here. Sick of being dairy free.. we see how it goes.
Israel has a total mullet too. The back is sooo long. Can't bring myself to cut it just yet!

millie had to go to the er thursday. her dumb mother gave her some bananas and she ended up with horrific gastro issues. she has been trying to steal out foods and grabbed a paper towel from me, ripped off a piece and was num num-ing it so i thought she might be ready. i've given all of my kids 'nanas for their first foods and never had this issue.

she was screaming in pain...and i couldn't do anything for her. i definitely win the bad mommy award.

good news is that she passed 3 large poos and was feeling great! she was even refusing to nurse when her guts were hurting, but she went back to ninny after about 5 hours. she nursed like crazy yesterday and today and has had several large but normal bf poos.

she weighs 17lbs 8 oz and is 26.5" at 5 months 3 weeks. not too shabby for my lil preemie she is my largest at this age!!! dd3 was 18lbs 2 oz @ 12 mos and dd1 was only 15lbs 15 oz @ 12 mos!!! she's wearing 12 mos in some things now!!!

oh and we're off solids for a while. bad mommy.
Aw, you're not a bad mommy. How were you to know? Bananas aren't exactly an exotic first food!
