iimmm ddduuueeee today!!! i know this doesnt mean much but im stillll excited about it! i am SO anxious to meet this baby! and super excited about labor i guess that sounds weird, but i cant wait to experience it! so, since this is my first, i have a question, how far did yall go? how far along were you before LO came, and how long was your labor? if you dont mind...

Don't get too excited, you may still have 2-3 weeks left! I went 41 (8 hr labor)with the first(which is perfectly normal) 40 (3 hr labor)with the second and 38 (11 hr labor)with the third. the second and third babies were both posterior until well into labor= check your baby's position make sure he's optimal position for birth...www.spinningbabies.org

I am dreaming of a UC when we get pregnant again but

my first 35wks6days was a hospital birth with a epi it was 36hours 1 hour pushing.

my second 38wks3days a natural hospital birth was 17hours from start of first contraction til his birth and under a hour for pushing.

My first pregnancy was 39 weeks with a 26 hr labor.

The next 4 were all negligibly longer pregnancies (somewhere during week 39) with considerably shorter labors 2hrs, 2+hrs, 1hr.

My 5th babe was born just 3 weeks ago after a 3 hr labor.

Enjoy the end of your pregnancy & welcoming your new babe.

My first was 41w3d. I had no signs of labour until my first contraction and after that first one they followed 5 mins apart from the start. He had his head up over his head/face which is why I think he cooked for so long(not the greatest position)and he was covered in mec at birth(old stuff). His labour from first cx to birth was 8 hrs. 5 of that was intense.

My second was 40w5d. Again-not the greatest position. He was Posterior through labour and birth and turned his face at the last minute to become a face presentation. I had 9 hrs of "is this labour?" which I'm sure was due to positioning. I did everything in the book for turning an OP baby but it didn't work. Labour went from "nothing" to "high gear" in a matter of 15 mins. I'm sure this is because I laid down and relaxed trying to go to sleep..... and he turned a bit. He was born 1.5hrs later after a crazy/intense labour.

I'm thinking positive thoughts for an optimal positioned baby this time

Good luck and have a beautiful birth!! I know how exciting it is to reach the 40 week mark!! You'll be holding your sweet babe in no time at all!!

So did you birth the face first presentation or did it resolve itself? I had a face first as well that I am pretty sure was OP the last couple of weeks of pregnancy. I don't know at what point he stuck his face in but it was mentum transverse (chin to the left forehead to the right). They are vaginally undeliverable at that point. I have seen pics of face firsts crowning (mentum anterior, chin is up, that's the only way they can vaginally deliver as a face first) and it is uh.ma.zing. Mine ended in c/s after 52 hours.

You made it so far!! 52 hrs! I seriously cannot even begin to imagine what you went through. What are the odds that he would be in that position? It must be a very slim chance....

As for my son, I did birth him as a face(midwife says he was technically face/brow) presentation. He was as you described-chin up- and I have to say a bit ouchy when crowning. I had a skid mark from his chin. He had severe facial bruising and couldn't open his eyes for 2 days. I think his very fast trip down the canal(about 2 mins) caused the majority of his swelling.

I'm thinking that he wasn't actually face first until my MW checked and accidently broke my water at 8cm. He was OP when she checked (after the bag wasn't there)so at some point during the next 20mins after my water broke he turned to a face pres. When he was crowning I reached down to feel his head and there was this little nose and part of a mouth. I FREAKED!! My MW had a feel and said he sucked on her finger which is a sure sign that he was coming out looking where he was going His face came out with the next cx and he was looking up at me through the water in the pool. It was pretty cool (although I would really like a straight forward/great positioned baby this time.... )

Take Care,
Julie

My UC baby was 41 weeks 5 days! I had prodromal labor for 8 weeks prior and finally discovered it was because of the RRL in my prenatals. Once I stopped that I had a nice calm blissful painfree week before the birth. The day or two before I had regular contractions that hurt in the belly, and then the day of (or technically the day before) I had bloody show and painful contractions in my pelvis. Labor was 25 hours with the last 12 being really active. Baby was completely posterior (I had an anterior placenta) and he spun JUST before I started spontaniously pushing. I did transfer, but only because I was in so much pain and it was going on for so long. CTX were 15 min apart for the last 15 hours and was 3cm when we left the house. Then when I got to the hospital they went from every 15 to every 3 min. I was pushing an hour or so later. The car ride probably was what got things stirred up for me, got him jiggled loose enough to spin anterior. I just didn't think to do that when I was home!

Anyway HAPPY DUE DATE! Hope baby is here sooner rather then later and happy birthing! It's so exciting (and frusterating) to get this far. I kept telling myself I wasn't due until 42 weeks. It made waiting a bit easier

My DD was born at 40 weeks and 6 days. She was born at home with an assisting midwife.

Best of luck and have a beautiful birth!

still pregnant? birthing is pretty great

First was born at 42 weeks 2 days, and was a UC attempt ended in transfer after 25 hrs, as she was posterior and it hurt like MAD! (dumb reason for transfer as she was born vaginally and drug free shortly after arriving at hospital)

Second was born at 42 weeks 3 days and was a super fast UC after 3 hrs of labor.

Hoping for another super fast birth this time around! Due in August.
