ds is 2.5 and whenever we go to a children's museum or toddler time he really seems to enjoy using the craft stuff. i admit i am not crafty enough to make up my own projects, but if i had a book with step-by-step directions to do some simple stuff i'd be fine. any book recommendations? TIA!

Gosh, the only thing I am thinking of is the Richard Scarry "Rainy Day Activity Book" and I'm not even sure what's in there... I actually remember having it as a child. I think there are a lot of things to cut out and paste together. It's probably rather prescriptive, and if you were looking for something more free form, maybe the "I'm not bored anymore" art jar from land of nod, or you could make your own art jar, or box. I know that's not a book, but just an idea for you. My 2 year old DD likes stickers and stampers, and she just uses them on paper and scribbles, etc. That's as close as we can get to crafts at this age (for her anyway).

There is a series of books that I really like. I have one called "Toddlers Busy Book", and there are others (preschoolers, siblings, and more). They not only have simple craft ideas, but other activities that you can do with things around the house.

Usborne has some cute titles as well.

My son loves to do crafts but I'm not too terribly creative so I buy Alex craft kits. They have some really awesome different kits and you can get a lot on sale with free shipping from Amazon right now. If you are going to start with just one kit get the Giant Busy Box as it has a lot of variety, but I have several kits and love them all.

Yeah, I think so. I mean I'm sure you can buy all of the stuff seperately at the craft store cheaper, but that takes creativity and a plan which I lack on most days. This way everything is all sorted and ready to go. Plus, getting me in the craft store is not going to be cheaper because I'm addicted to scrapbooking.

I have First Art : Art Experiences for Toddlers and Twos and really like it. It's not about making crafts; it's about playing with stuff in various ways. For example, there are several pages of recipes for different types of dough and paint, at least a page of things you can use to draw/paint/scribble with and things to scribble on, etc.

This was my favorite as a kid: I can make a Rainbow and I still love it as a mama. Really creative things, not just projects, but it also has different clay recipes, collage ideas, and more free form art ideas.

If not a book than how about a website/blog that also gives a supply list for just about all they do as well as books and songs sometimes.

She has step by step photos. Catalogs by type of activity. Letter learning along with the craft. I can't wait to do some of this stuff with my two.
