Okay...I'm just going to put it all out there. I have always had problems with yeast, which only gets worse when I go on sugar/salt/bread tirades. I have recently moved to a foreign country where that sums up the local diet.
So, now I seem to be having either a recurring yeast infection and/or moderate vaginal itching. There's no discharge, so I assume it's the latter.
My 13-month old son, meanwhile, has irritation (and it seems from his behavior, itching) around his genitals. We're still nursing, btw...
I can't help but think one has something to do with the other. Early on in his life (like our first couple of months of nursing), he had thrush. All of the qualifying factors were there, including my use of antibiotics in hospital, and the problem cleared promptly up with a prescription from his pediatrician.
I know that I have dietary sensitivities I need to respect a hell of a lot more than I have been, especially since I think it's having an adverse reaction for him. But has anyone heard of this sort of problem occurring with nursing 13 month-olds? I ask because we're pretty far into our nursing relationship and for this to happen now seems odd.
Also note, he is extremely healthy, boisterous...a great eater...etc.
Thanks in advance!
