What a great idea!!!! I have three preschoolers and would LOVE a forum that they would fit into

I'm in!

What a great idea! I stopped posting anything on mdc regarding my son's development since he passed the just walking "toddler" stage. That time is such an amazing stage with so much going on, so that stage seems to dominate the toddler forum. My son will be 3 years old in a few weeks and definetely acting like something beyond the toddler stage, this kid can run!!! He is starting a 2 day a week preschool program in August and I would love to chat with other mamas with kids at this same stage.

Ditto!!!

Where does a 3 yo or 4 yo fit? They're not in school and they're not toddlers.

Just another user who thinks this is the right thing to do.

We could just call it the late-potty-training / he won't stop talking forum.

I would love to see this happen too I've started to feel like we're too old for the toddler forum since my dd will be 3 this month.

me, too! I'd like it. I do sometimes post in Toddlers, b/c I have four kids who have all been toddlers and my youngest is 3 - so he just barely passed being a toddler, IMO.

I'd love this too! I remember feeling out of place when my DSD was 3-4 years old, like my posts didn't really fit in either forum. And I had received a post in the begining when she was 3 that questions about her didn't belong in toddlers! It was disheartening. Because I really didn't feel she was a big kid!

Early Childhood is a good name... at my daycare the toddlers are split into two rooms... Young Toddlers and Older Toddlers. lol The 2-4 age range is the older toddlers (whatever age it takes for potty learning to be done, when they are potty learned they then transition to the big kid room).

I like the way it is now. I know some parents still give input on forums their kids don't fit into anymore, but I think making a forum just for preschoolers will limit the input from parents with older kids. I love getting advice from parents who have been through the stage already. I also like seeing threads pop up about issues I might be dealing with as my kids get older. I know it's kind of a big age span, but I like The Childhood Years as is.

Bump! Bump!

I would also love to see this!

Another vote for this (or some other kind of organization). DS is only 2/5 y/o, but I can tell that he's going to quickly outgrow the toddler forum, but it seems odd to post in a forum that also includes 9 year-olds.

ok so  it has been a few months now any word on a early childhood/preschoolers forum? i am another who dosn't feel  like I belong to any one group in the ages and stages section.

My DS is three in a couple of months and he has been out of diapers for 8 mons now,  runs, jumps and climbs, rides a tricycle, goes to preschool 2 mornings a week, is starting to recognize letters and read them, etc he is no longer a toddler.

I would also love a preschool aged forum!

I really think this forum is necessary. I have a 3.5 year old, and when I look at the threads in the Toddler forum, there are literally no threads that apply to him. RIght now the threads there are talking about not eating enough solids, speech development/therapy, pacifiers, how to get a young toddler to sleep longer, boots for small feet, etc. and all are about 1 to 2.5 year olds. Often there are a slew of PT/PLing threads... For a 3.5 year old who has moved beyond those stages, he just doesn't seem to fit in the "toddler" stage anymore. I can understand not wanting to group them with the Childhood Years yet...thus the reason a preschool or discovery years or something similar would be a perfect forum.

Hi, we are not currently adding any new forums until we have gotten through the transition of switching software platforms. We need to ensure the existing forums and features are running smoothly for everyone before adding to our current forum load. Thanks for everyone's input and understanding!
