We have a relatively new gas range (got it last summer). I wiped out the oven a few times since we got it, but clearly not enough. (We don't use the oven THAT much.) It has gotten a bit icky now. I tried cleaning it thoroughly this morning (spent over an hour) and it doesn't look like I touched it.
I used hot, soapy dishwashing water first with an old dishcloth.
Then, I got out the baking soda.
Tried it first with the dishcloth and then with a green scrubby.
I sprayed vinegar next.
I even tried scraping the glass door (inside) with a putty knife, for crying out loud!
Nothing got anything off, so I turned on the oven to 400 degrees for awhile (while I switched laundry and mopped the floors). Read somewhere - maybe here on MDC - that spraying vinegar and heating up the oven would loosen the gunk. Ha!
I opened the oven to find white residue everywhere.
I scrubbed everything again to see if the heat would help. Aside from being a nice facial, no.
At this point, the white residue is gone, but the oven is not clean. Looks like I never even touched it.
Got any tips????
