38 weeks pregnant with asthma & wheezing

Hello - I saw my OB today for my regular appointment and discussed that I have been sick-ish for the past four weeks or so. I've had this cold or something that keeps coming and going, with a lingering sore throat and an annoying but typical cough that produces occasional phlegm. I haven't been terribly worried about it because I can mostly function normally...mostly I'm just worn down and annoyed and ready to be healthy for a few days before I go into labor. I'd like to not be sick when I'm pushing out this baby, kwim?

Anyhow, the OB listened to my lungs and said I'm wheezing all over the place. He wanted me to contact my allergist (who prescribes my asthma meds) ASAP to see if I might need a breathing treatment or even a course of abx. I have an appointment for Wednesday AM, but I was wondering if there's anything else I can do at home to help my lungs clear up.

I've heard that inhaling tea tree oil in steam is helpful, but I've also heard you're not supposed to do that while pregnant. I'm still not terribly worried about this, but if there's anything I can do to speed up the recovery process, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks.

I'd stop ALL dairy and add probiotics.

And read the Cliff Notes for gut healing at the end of this thread:

I would visit with your allergist. That sounds like a good idea to me.

One never really knows what could be causing allergy symptoms. I am having a lot of issues lately but it is due to all the snow melting and the mold count going up.

I do still have asthma/allergy issues and I don't eat dairy. I am allergic to it.

Steam can help, if I am out of asthma meds I do hot water in a pan with a towel over the head and maybe 2 parts honey 1 part lemon juice.

Have you tried using a neti pot? They can help with drainage.

There is a lot to say for nutrition helping with allergy symptoms but that needs time, you need to breathe.
