Could you have one short LP as a fluke?

I've always had really long cycles and the last period (Feb 2) was very, very light, which I've never had before. Then, I had a very short cycle and the LP was extremely short. Could that be a fluke? The first period the LP was 10 days so on the short side (10 days) but still long enough. This period is extremely heavy (back to normal) so I'm hoping my LP will lengthen enough to sustain implantation, even if it means back to longer cycles.

My chart:

Could you have just one really short fluke LP and then they go back to normal naturally?

did you just start charting?

Its very possible for FF to give an incorrect O date... especially when you have just started charting and do not know what your own patterns are/do not have the whole temping thing down enough to get clear patterns just yet.

Your chart is REALLY rocky so I would assume that somethings up with your temping... may I ask how (orally or vaginally) you are temping, are you making sure to do it before getting out of bed first thing in the morning... and you are indeed using a basal thermometer and not just a regular digital?

You're right, all of the temps are .30, .40, etc.
A basal therm will give you more accurate readings.

It's certainly possible to not so much have a short luteal phase but just to not ovulate at all during that cycle. And you end up what with what appears to be a short LP but O never occured. I had a bunch of these cycles with my first 3 or 4 pp cycles while breastfeeding. My temp rise was always pretty minimal...

This is just my 3rd pp cycle and I'm still nursing my youngest (22 months old). I'm just using a regular old digital and temping orally; could that be the difference? I'm doing a good job of getting consistent sleep and temping at the same time everyday before I get out of bed.

I'll pick up a new BBT tomorrow (it's early enough in this cycle to switch now, right?)

I was hopeful because the thermal shift seemed so much more clear to me in this last cycle

A regular digital is usually only accurate to .2 degrees whereas bbts are usually accurate to about .02 which is a HUGE difference when tracking your temps.

Yes, it is early enough to switch now. You will likely spot an amazing change right away to more stable temps compared to how they have been.

BTW if you go to Walgreens and get the walgreens brand one... we have found you need to leave it in about an extra 3 minutes after it beeps to get the very most accurate temp.

Most BBTs are not like that but the pink Walgreens one is for some really odd reason
