Stuttering?

My very verbal 2 year old is stuttering. I'm not sure if he's always done this or not, but I suddenly noticed it and now I can't seem to ignore it. I remember my husband mentioning it a month or two ago, but I didn't pay much attention because I hadn't really noticed. I think maybe I just assumed he was still trying to think of the words he wanted to use because he was still developing those verbal skills. However, it is very clearly now a stutter. Is this "normal"? I will add that he has had speech therapy before for an oral hyposensitivity that lead to severe drooling and an expressive speech delay, but he has now completely caught up and surpassed his peers with his speech. He has also been grinding his teeth more lately, which he has always done off and on. It's related to his sensory issues.

Any other stutterers out there? Is this something he'll outgrow, or should I follow up with his speech therapist again? (He "graduated" and isn't seeing her any longer.)

It probably wouldn't hurt to call the speech therapist but I know a lot of kids who had stutters that outgrew them, In fact now that I think about it not one had therapy and don't stutter anymore. He is young, I'd just keep a eye on it but it will probably take care of its self in time.

Stuttering is very common in 2-7 year olds. Part of it is that they're gaining fluency and speed so they're taking less time to form words as they work on getting their thoughts out.

It's like how kids go from writing letters all correctly to doing them backwards here and there. Trying to get the writing up to the speed of their thoughts.

Both of my older kids stuttered between 2-4 for a brief time. One was more of a tic than a stutter, but the other was full on stuttering. It happened at two separate times for him. I ignored it, and cued others to ignore it. It resolved on its own.
