EDIT: My baby boy Adam is here! Born March 2, 2010 at 9:51 am! 7lbs 4oz!
It was a natural drug free hospital birth- not what I was hoping for, but still a wonderful experience! i was sent back to the hospital yet again on monday around 3pm for some monitoring because my blood pressure was high at my appointment. i noticed i was having some contractions on my way there, and they were feeling like the real thing. since i was already 37 weeks and a few days, i figured id see what happened. at the hospital they hooked me up to the monitors and sure enough they were regular and strong. i was 3cm dilated and 80% effaced. they decided to admit me since my pressures were pretty high, even though there was no protein in my urine. they told me that they were going to see what happened, and if the ctx stopped i could go home. they started coming pretty regular so we knew it was baby time. i wasnt checked for about 6 hours and i was only at a 4. frustrating! i was able to get a little bit of sleep and around 3am they checked me again and i was still only at a 4 so they started a little bit of pitocin- and it must have really only been a little bit because i only noticed a minimal change in the intensity of my contractions. anyway, around 7:30 am they checked me and i was STILL at a 4. the doctor decided that he wanted to break my water because the bag was bulging and he thought it would speed things along so he did that around 8:15. He was definitely right because at 9:15am they checked me again and I was complete. I went from 4cm to 10cm in an hour (maybe less because who knows how long i was there before they checked again) and it was the most intense thing ever. the doctor got there around 9:45 and took one look and was like.. this is not going to take long. i pushed about 2 and a half times, and he was out 5 minutes later! only a small little tear, one tiny stitch- so im feeling pretty good. i dont know if the doctor is just saying this to make himself feel better about sending me to the hospital over and over again, but when he broke my water there was a little bit of blood in it, and the placenta was starting to calcify a bit so he kept saying "im so glad i kept sending you in! i knew something wasn't right." haha. whatever. everything worked out perfectly in the end, and i am so glad to not be pregnant anymore!
here he is! i know i am biased, but he is basically the cutest thing i have ever seen.
