Welcome ladies, can you believe it's march already???

Question for the week:

What is the one thing that you love to do/see/whatever, that really means spring is here for you??

for me its Crocuses, they are the little flower that dares to be first and get out in front of the pack. when i see them i know that soon the rest of the flowers will be brave enough to follow. cheer cheer for the little crocuses!
Thanks for the new thread, Adorkable!!!!!

It's a tie between the grackles and the daffodils.

Grackles are birds, and they flock in HUGE groupings right as the season is starting to shift in the spring and fall. They fly in wide bands - ribbons in the sky, they are.

The daffodils start poking up pretty early - I've seen a couple of groupings of them - just the green shoots coming up through the ground. Once the flowers show, Spring is literally just around the corner!

TTC-wise (as I haven't posted in forever) meh. I'm still in a holding/whatever pattern. I've stopped taking my Metformin to see how my totally unmedicated cycles are acting, and based on their length, I'm ovulating around CD17/18 every month - so that's a good thing, I reckon. It'll officially be 36 months on Thursday.......... Meh.

My Mom is still here...the house looks great...working so hard...trying not to have her presence interfere with TTC...we are used to reckless abandon so this being uber quiet is different. I'll be back with more...

Adorkable- LOVE LOVE LOVE the thread title this month!!!

DH and I love to cook together and eat dinner on our front porch, so the first week we can do that, I'll know Spring is here. Can't wait!

Got my hcg and progesterone results and they came back great (whew!) They were good enough that the MW didn't even think there was any need for a beta. I'll have my first prenatal appointment on the 15th.

Thank you SOOOO much ladies for the positive thoughts- you don't know how much it means to me to have you all to share the ups and downs of this process!

I guess I can finally take a deep breath and bring myself to join the October DDC. My new resolution is also to relax- time to get back on board with yoga.
I agree with Jenne, I love the title of the thread this month. Except for me, my motto this month will be "In like a mom, AND out like a mom". Last night (12dpo) I finally gave in and took a hpt and it was a glaring positive. I was pretty shocked. I still am. I took another test right away because I just didn't believe it. I'm soooo excited ladies! DH was home sick for the day so he found out the same time I did. Poor guy, he was trying so hard to be super happy and celebrate but there is only so much happiness you can feel when you're hugging the toilet half the day praying for mercy. Thankfully he's mostly better today so we can celebrate a little more. I feel so overwhelmed!

Newbian Mama - I've played WoW before and it was fun but I never found it super addictive like some do. Now Sims2 is another story! I just couldn't get enough of that game when it first came out. DH would even jokingly say "Dag dag!" or something like that when he left the house 'cause I was so hooked.

Adorkable - I figured it was too early for alcohol to affect a potential baby during the 2ww but I had no idea if alcohol affected fertility or conception chances so i thought I'd better abstain just in case. I don't drink much so I hadn't really read up on it at all. In hindsight it doesn't really matter since it didn't seem to hamper my chances. I also just wanted to say that you do such a great job giving our first thread post a great theme every month. Thanks for making it so fun for us! How do you choose colours for everyone's name?

QOTD - Back in Canada where I used to live, my favourite sign of spring was that first day I could smell that humid grassy smell of growth. Everything is brown and covered in snow all winter so I loved that springy smell. Here in the pacific northwest though, its all green all the time lol. Here I'd say it'd be the daffodils since they are DP's favourite flower and we had some out front in our old house. I'll have to plant some in front of this new house this fall to keep the tradition alive.

Orandalady - I'm so happy your test results came back so positive. It must be a relief to shed all that worry and embrace your excitement instead.

AmandaMom - Welcome to our group, these ladies here are fantastic, you'll love it here. Wishing you lots of baby dust and beginner's luck.

One more thing....

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh I can't believe it!

oo i love those birds, that just reminded me , the little tree frogs came back all of a sudden last week, i have a wetlands lake in my backyard, its about 2 blocks large. the ducks are a wonderful things to watch almost year round. But the frogs! their song will now fill our house from dusk till dawn for the rest of the summer, i just love love love that!

welcome back Kiya, glad to hear you are doing good, sorry for the milestone, those can hurt.

ooo we have a goal of setting up a eating place on out back porch overlooking the lake, your right that will be great!

So glad everything is looking good, yeah it is scary to think how normal bleeding is, before i started this journey i would have never believed that. i used to balk at my RE doing a preggo test each CD1 , cause like "hello I'm bleeding!" but now i totally understand it as a must do before medications. (of course what is silly is that like "hello I've been testing for a week!") but they need to know on their terms and that makes good sense.

having this thread has been my rock for the 27 months that i have been listed. i regularly think of those that graduated even before i thought of having a kid and those that will come here years after we all have graduated. I'm glad it is a good place for you as well.

AFM-
TTC Stuff-
CD25 starting to realize that rushing this cycle to be over will do me little good, i have made so many plans in the next 6 weeks (thinking that DH would have been gone and i would enjoy the distractions and a bit of my old traveling ways) that there is almost no stretch of time for us to do a medicated cycle and be in the right place at the right time.
So thankfully that gives me some emotional breathing room to wait it out for a while. If i take something to stop it, it will be a at calculated date to help us fit things in.
NonTTC Stuff-
Its starting to look like DH is staying home. did i already say all this? i cant remember. started to sink in because he asked yesterday for me to pick some vacation days for him to block off so he would not get put on extra duties in that time and we can go forward with our plan to go to Hawaii again. we want to make it a yearly trip, that is soooo cool.
this is not to say that their might not still go, but it has become clear that they as a unit and we as a family need to move forward and stop holding our breath. So the unit is getting other taskings.
while it is great to have him home, this would have been a really good deployment and deployments will always happen and most all the others are farther away, longer and way more dangerous, so we were actually really hoping that he would go on this one and get his home "dwell" time clock reset. that would keep him out of Afghanistan for a year more. His unit while having nothing on their roster right now, have been home nearly a year and will be seen as an available resource now.

Next big thing on my plate? So Excited!!! I'm headed to Houston on the 10th for the Society of North American Goldsmiths Annual Conference. This is the first time i have gone and I'm volunteering for them and really looking forward to getting to chat nonstop with other metalsmiths. It's kinda like how MDC is great cause we never get sick of hearing someone talk about TTC, well this is one of the only places i can go that do one will get tired of talking about metal. Very cool.

Teetina- is right! Congratulations!!!!!

Adorkable- An eating place overlooking the lake- I'm jealous!

Glad to hear DH will be home for a bit and Hawaii sounds awesome! I'll be that if he does get deplyed again, it is in a safe place.

Sorry for the ignorance, but what exactly is a goldsmith? If you're a fan of Indian food, you can't beat it in Houston while you're there!

thanks, you know that funny, i have ponderd over that a lot, someitme i use a color based on the name, sky and lavender had to be sky and lavender, other time i have fun guessing what someone favorite color might be based on how they introduce themselves (i wonder if im ever right?) and then there are those time that i mainly look at what is above and below them on the list and do my best not to repeat or clash! (hard when folks graduate and it causes a clash, hehehe) If anyone want to be a different color, please let me know, you can be whatever you want!!!

its kinda like the gold version of a Blacksmith

I'm a Metalsmith, i make things out of metal, mostly fine metals (Silver, Gold) but i also love Bronze and Pewter. SNAG (Society of North American Goldsmiths) is our national organization for metalsmiths, it is named "goldsmiths" from way back when it formed, but very much covers all metals now. Both in Jewelry and also Hollowware (vessels, boxes and such) and sculptural art.

Teetina- WOOHOO!!!!!!! CONGRATS!!!! So happy for you!

orandalady- YAY!!!! So glad everything is ok! I saw you over on the Oct DDC! Woohoo!!!!

Adorkable, I just love seeing what you're going to do with those smilie bombs!

Looks like there's been some good luck in this thread lately, so I hope it all rubs off on everyone!!!!

I'm mainly going to be lurking this month (and congratulating all the BFP's that I know are coming!). I just can't leave ya'll totally yet.
Teetina - Congrats!!!

Adorkable - Thanks for the tip about using a preggo chart in my signature. I'm sure that will bring me some luck! We've also got some wetlands in our backyard; it's actually part of the Intracoastal Waterway. During warmer weather, DP and I love to have lunch on the deck and watch the tide come in. Very peaceful! Please add me to the list. My cycles are long and wacky, but my first insem should be sometime in the first week of April.

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome! I look forward to riding this roller coaster with you guys at my side!

QOTW - My favorite sign of Spring would have to be the influx of bluebirds and cardinals, though I do love the daffodils and the "smell" of Spring.

Happy to Add you Amanda!!
and glad you like the positive chart, i actually made the graphic for that, when i first joined MDC. i am a big believer in positive thinking and "reframe" so it was bumming me out to use a chart that did not look how i wanted mine to look.
Sorry I over looked it before- Welcome AmandaMom! Here's to a short stay!
Congrats Teetina!!!!!
Congratulations Teetina!!! How wonderful for you!

QOTD- I'd say the crocus and daffodils are my favorite signs of "first" spring. Also that first day when the sun is out and it seems like a good day to go to the park and just be. That is just wonderful!

My Mom finally left. She wound up staying an extra day due to the snow in Georgia. But that turned out well because my Grandparents were coming through today (just got back from lunch with them) and so she got to see them too. DH just asked me what I'm going to do tonight while he is at work (oh, someone asked what 2nd shift meant...for us it is the 2:30-11pm shift) and I said, "Nothing. I'm not going to cook dinner. I'm not going to do anything but sit on the couch." We have worked so hard for the past week. Whew. Things look so much better! I think someone asked if we had moved recently...noooooo...we moved in July 2009. We were having some improvement done (bookshelves built-in) and it took FOREVER and 3 contractors to get the work done. But it is done now and almost everything is unpacked and arranged like I wanted. We have artwork on the walls and everything. I may post some pictures to my blog later. I'll ley y'all know. As I said I'm not doing anything tonight!

At lunch my Gramma mentioned that the cousin who is directly younger than me had put her house on the market and surprise it had sold. My Mom asked why they had sold their house. I said, "She's pregnant." Gramma blinked and said, "No one is supposed to know!" And my heartbroke and I just don't know why. I'm thrilled for her, she is due in September...I think I'm bummed because last cycle I O'd on CD17 and that is today and I have no indication that I'm gearing up or anything. I just feel bummed about me. About my brokenness. About that my acupuncturist wants me to give up all dairy and I told her I couldn't. I cut way back but I really try to eat meats and veggies and shy away from sugar/carbs/cereals/grains. Dairy is tasty and healthy and gives me a little variety. But if that is what I need to do...why am I resistant? I guess last week I was feeling like I can "get" pregnant I just can't stay pregnant. Sigh. This is normal. I know that not oing on cd17 doesn't mean I won't on 18 or 20 which is much more typical for me.

But I also realized after talking to Dh about it that I will be the only married girl cousin who hasn't had a baby in the last year presuming we don't catch an egg this month or next--which could happen. I like my extended family okay but there is always this weird competition thing. Like who has the best grades, bought a house first, married first...gross. And yet...here I am worried about that. Puke.

Sorry. I'm all done now. Hikin' up the big girl panties.

Adorkable- Hang in there! Long cycles suck but think about all the control you have now for planning things. That's an upside right??? Peace! I hear you on the mixed blessing of having your DH home now but the unknown of where/when he might be sent must be a burden. I can't even imagine. Thank you for your service. So where all are you going other than Dallas?

AmandaMom- Welcome!

Monarchgrrl- Are you still feeling okay?

JustKiya- I'm sending baby vibes your way! Hope you catch one soon...

Newbian Mama- I figure you are in the 2ww about now...how's it going?

actually going to Houstan, i do have some folks i know in the area, but i think that the conferaence is going to be a totally full time evetn, they have art walks and parties every night and things alll day, i will just be lucky if i sleep. so no others things on my plate right now.

question about FF and temps now i am a big beliver in never taking my temp twice, it just strresses you out. the only time i do that is when i wake way to early and must go pee, then i might take it again at the normal time and see what makes sense. but i think it is this "corections" that make chart look like what we want them to be rather than what they are and lead doctors to actually have a reason to not trust them.
My charts are usually really clear and i so often have u/s confirmation that they are spot on, so i feel like im doing a pretty good job.

so of course this cycle is wonky, all temps have been pre O temps and no folicle was seen growing at all on CD14 and i certainly did not 0 before that, i have had nothing at all like a rise. i have also had some rare for me evenings of EWCM on CD20 & 23. Now i have a tiny but possible rise starting CD25. ok i could belive that, but here is the thing:

both the last to days, i have taken my temp just a tad early, like 30min or less, something i would not usally account for (ff does not give a open dot til over 30 min) and both days it was 97.8 (this would be just above my normal cover line) but that is not the bother, the bother is that both days i retook my temp after snoozing/laying half awake about 20-30min, it should have stayed the same or gone up, but both times it went down to 97.6!

i put my first temp in since normally i would have never taken that second temp and the first one was taken in more acurate way, but isn't that strange????

as a side note i have shown to have a very clear .1 per 30 minute rise of sleeping in that they say is average and have shown not to rise much faster at all if i just lay relaxed and snooze, i temp vaginally so i think it does not fluxuate nearly as fast

im not changing my chart and it will take a while before we know if yesterday was a rise or just a blip and it does not really affect me exept my curiositry, it was just so not what i was exspected i thought i would ask around.

wow i just realllly rambled, sorry
Adorkable - There have been a few times that I retook my temp 20 to 30 minutes later, mostly out of curiosity. Most times it went up, but a couple times it went down. I was surprised, but after some research, I discovered it's actually not that uncommon. Like you, I always stick to my first temp, since it's probably the most accurate BBT. I'm sorry your cycle is all wonky, and I can certainly relate. I've had cycles as short as 28 days and as long as 49 days. I used to love that I could go 7 weeks without a period, but now I'm wishing it were consistently 4 weeks. Ugh, we just have to play with the cards we're dealt, I guess.

question: In the list of active members, what does the last number next to the chart graphic stand for?

nice to know someone else has noticed the same thing.

oh the numbers, they are little notes to myself that tell me the last month someone posted in one of the threads, we let people drift off the list after they haven't been around for 6 months, otherwise we get list to long to keep track of. i wish there was a way to not let them show, i dont want folks to feel pressured to post, that is why i made them pale. i need to charge the color, that color matched the old background before they updated MDC

ETA: poof! can't see them now!
