Adult Onset Asthma ???

I am 28. Is it possible for me to have just developed asthma? I have soo many asthma signs and symptoms within the last few months that I have never had before.. I am healthy, active, not many health problems (actually only endometriosis) I don't smoke..

anyone experience this?

I developed asthma at age 32. I really think it was because my vitamin D levels were low. I didn't discover that until I was 35. I've had no asthma since I corrected the levels but that hasn't been terribly long ago so I suppose time will tell.

I developed asthma at 23. One thing I would say is don't just assume it's regular asthma. It probably is, as a lot of people get asthma as an adult. But, go see an asthma and allergy specialist, and get allergy testing done along with the asthma tests they will do too. I was 36 when I finally saw an actual specialist for my asthma. I hadn't had a change in my asthma, it was still controlled well, but I thought it might be best to see a specialist in case there was a better drug to use, or perhaps a different way to manage my symptoms w/o drugs. I'd never had allergy testing until then, and it turns out I'm severely allergic to cats, and we have two! I also saw a pulmonologist b/c the asthma doc was concerned about some reading I had and wanted to rule out something. Anyway, after seeing both docs, both agree that my asthma is solely due to the cats, and if I got rid of them I'd have no symptoms in 6 mths or so. Since we're keeping the cats, they gave me some ways to mitigate the symptoms to reduce the allergen load that leads to my symptoms. Not a cure all, but it has helped.

I developed asthma at 17. My mother was just diagnosed last year at age 58 (although I suspect that she has had it a few years longer than that). In our case it is both a hereditary thing and we live in an area with horrible air quality.

Asthma can hit at any age.

I tell everybody about this because I can't believe I suffered for so many years over a simple thing.

Acid reflux can cause asthmatic symptoms. I finally started experiencing actual heartburn two years ago, when I was 37, but I've been dealing with asthma problems since I was about 30. You can have reflux without feeling heartburn. It often also causes post nasal drip in addition to the lung issues.

another adult-dx cat allergy.

I had my first asthma attack at age 5. Asthma until about age 18. Some exercise induced asthma during college. 1-2 attacks in my 20s. A huge increase in asthma and wheezing in my 30s. Finally got singulair, which did help. Then I moved away from the cat. No more asthma.

Looking back...I did not sleep with a cat from 18 - 28, exactly the years I was asthma-free. And the adult wheezing peaked when I lived in an apartment with 3 cats, one of which was pretty much in my bedroom full-time. And I would wheeze when I got out of bed at night to urinate.

I don't exercise enough to know if it would induce asthma now.

Tangentally, I now know that urinating at night is related to a spleen qi deficiency, and it was corrected with acupuncture. Don't know if cat allergy could be helped by acupuncture, but I bet asthma would be.
