would your 7-8yo dd think this print is too babyish?

I'm thinking of getting this new seat for my 4yo, but as it converts to a booster (which I expect her to be in for a looooong time) I want to make sure that the fabric isn't something that she'll decide is too babyish and fuss about sitting in once she's older. Right now she loves it, but I'm aware that tastes may change, and wondering f I should maybe steer towards something a bit simpler (maybe the basic paler pink and grey instead of the bright flowers) What do you think?

MY 7 yo girly-girl would love it!

But I'd be cautious from either a re-sale, second child or borrowed-seat perspective. If you needed to strap a boy into it for some reason, would it be an issue?

Although her tastes might change, I don't think pink for girls is going to go out of style in the next few years. And by then she'll be attached to the car seat and not really thinking about it. Using it will just be routine. I'd be surprised if it became a problem. Now if it was for a boy, I'd be concerned that he'd become aware of societal customs and/or subjected to comments or teasing before he outgrew it. But that's not going to happen for a girl.

I don't think the design looks babyish, anyway, just bright and pretty. If it had some sort of cartoon that was for preschoolers, I'd hesitate. But just flowers? That's fine at any age. At least you'll know she'll like the booster seat now. She may never like a gray one.

I agree. I have a dd that just turned 8 a couple of weeks ago and her booster is pink with little cartoon fairies on it. While she was really excited about it at 6, when she outgrew her Marathon, I don't think she even sees it now. It's just the seat she crawls into and buckles into every time she gets in the van. I suspect, based on her growth, that she'll be in this seat at least another couple of years. I'm not worried about her becoming "too mature" for it. Seriously, I don't think she sees the pattern anymore at all.

well, I think it's lovely

I've never heard my daughter ( who is now 20) use the term babyish to describe anything.

I would probably go with the pink/gray combo.

My dd thought it was, but it may be that your child doesn't even notice it because it is just the seat she sits in to ride. My dd likes a lot of princess type stuff and fancy things just as long as they aren't pink. If your dd has a favorite color and you can find a seat in it then I think you should go for that one.

My almost 8 YO thought it was a little kiddish. And she's into girly stuff too. I'd go with a pink/grey combo as well. GL!

Thanks for all the input!! We just got back from toys-r-us to try out the one with paler pink and grey and subtle butterflies (really nice!)- and the cratch strap was already under her bum. SO frustrating!!! So, apparently we're going to get stuck without all the fun options and be lucky to get a plain pink one (frontier or something) afterall. What a bummer.

For whatever it's worth, my 5.5 year old just transitioned from her Britax Decathlon in the lovely and girly Tiffany print to a Britax Frontier. I was sure she would choose the pink, but she surprised me and chose red.

She absolutely loves it, and the whole feeling of being in a big kid seat (even though she is still in a 5-point harness!), certainly outweighed any disappointment in not having a super cute cover any more.
