Make a Wish/Children's Wish families here?

Hey guys, I finally consented to allow my little girl's oncology social worker to refer her for a wish through children's wish foundation. I resisted for a while because I was concerned about how doing that would affect my own sense of optimism where my daughter's condition is concerned, but I finally decided that if this is something that can be granted to her, after everything she's been through, who am I to stop it? I mean, we've been through a lot, and right now she's feeling good, and while we certainly hope and anticipate that she'll continue to feel good, there will always be that certain black cloud of doubt. Gahh.... I"m sure many of you know what I mean.

So now that I've released my fear and issues around it all, I'm pretty psyched. Just waiting to hear something now and I keep getting all negative that they might deny her, but our team at the hospital says she's 'totally, totally, totally eligible'. They're VERY positive. Hmmm....

Anyways, have any of you wonderful mamas done the whole wish thing with your kids? How did you find the experience?

Thanks!!!!!!!!

I used to work for Make a wish and it's a great program. And you can do the program and still be optimistic. Make a wish is for kids with life threatening illnesses, not terminal. Lots of the kids have made a complete recovery. Many people think it has to be terminal to have a wish granted but that is not the case. I don't think that you will be turned down. They don't turn down many people. So enjoy your wish and good luck.

I'm so glad you are doing it!

The Walk for Wishes is here on Saturday and both my DDs are volunteering!

I actually thought it would be pretty cool if we had such a thing here, but we don't.
Like Owachi said, it doesn't have to be a terminal condition, "just" life threatening. And my little miss cotton ball buttons doc actually brought it up once, he said he thought it should be something like that here too, and he might do something about it. 'Coz he really wanted to grant my little miss a wish.

Enjoy the wish!
And post back to tell us what it is, if you can. (After it's granted, I think you can, or something.)
