Help! My DDs "lovey" is my Hair!

I know I'm not the only one, but I can't find other posts. My daughter (18 mo)loves to play with my hair. When she's sleepy, when we read books, when she's going to sleep, whenever she's in my arms.
Sometimes it's ok and sometimes (especially when I am fighting annoyance anyway) it pulls and drives me nuts.
I am tempted to cut my hair off short, but I don't think this would solve the problem. It would just make me have to get closer to her when she's falling asleep.
I've tried her teddy bear, her stuffed dog, an eyelash blanket, dolls, etc.

Today I am at my wits end~ any thoughts oh wise mama's?

All I can do is sympathize - my DD's lovey is my boob.

I posted this same lament myself many months ago - maybe even with the same thread title. My main problem is the holding/playing with my hair when we're in bed and sleeping. Makes for one angry mama. Anyway, some folks here have used an online company that makes a doll using your real hair. Can't think of the name, but if you search this forum for "hair lovey" you'll probably find it.

wow, cut my hair and get a substitute. What did you do?
I agree, if it was just at bed, naps, etc it would be moderatly ok, but all the time, ahhhhh sigh

Cutting your hair short won't fix it. I have short hair and DS plays with it just fine. Sometimes it's nice to know that it can help him relax, but in the middle of the night it really gets on my nerves.

I have the same situation. i dont mind though, luckily DD is gentle. But if I don't want her to play with my hair, I ask her to play with her own.

My son did this until he was 3yo. Now (he's almost 4) he still twists his own hair when he's tired, bored, or just wanting to self-soothe. He only plays with my hair once in a great while.

I feel for ya! My DD is obsessed with my hair too. I tried ponytails, but then she just grabs at the hairs on the side or nape of my neck and yanks until they come out of the pony (or out of my head- whichever come first!).

I did finally go get it cut. I went from it being halfway down my back to just below shoulder length. That actually helped because now there is less for her to wind up in her fingers or to yank on- I think it's just less fun. Now she's mostly content to just run a few strands between her fingers or hold onto a handful when we are nursing. Also she probably only pulls out a couple hairs a day now, where before it was an easy 50+!

Good to hear I'm not alone and this does eventually pass.
I looked up the Lovey Baby hair doll. Anyone tried this?
