Should I purchase little potty seat for EC?

Hello everyone! I want to thank you in advance you all of your help! I am a FTM to be so still learning the basics...

Okay, I have been reading lots about EC and I think it's a great option for us (I not too keen on doing the laundry everyday ) Do you think it's weird to use a little potty seat and/or do you think I would need it (I plan on doing EC part time, cloth diapering the rest of the time) or should I just get one of those potty seat trainer things so their bum doesn’t fall in the toilet?

Hi! Welcome and congratulations!! My favorite potty is the baby bjorn little potty. I'm not sure what you mean by a little potty seat. We do have a toilet seat reducer, but we have used it very few times. I think she first time she actually peed while on it was less than a month ago, and my dd is close to 23 months old! But all babies are different!!! I think with newborns, a lot of people just hold them while sitting on the toilet themselves, if you're going to use the toilet. I pottied my baby at the sink and in a potty on the bathroom counter while standing up, because that was easiest for me logistically!

What is a FTM?

Thanks so much! FTM= first time mom (I don't really like using all of the abbreviations but I feel like such a "newbie" if I don't!). Oh and you were exactly right with the "little potty seat" meaning the baby bjorn potty. Wow, what a confusing post I guess !

Yeah, I was planning on using the shower/sink alot in the beginning I just wasn't sure if I would need the "little potty seat" or not. I just wonder if it's a bit odd to have a potty in the living room for example. We are renting a very small space (a 1 room cabin) so we'd have no choice but to put it in the living/kitchen/bedroom (mainroom) or the bathroom/laundry room (also small). Ahhhh! Why do such little creatures take up so much space!

We didn't get a little potty until she was starting to try to sit up on her own and we got the toilet seat reducer at the same time. If you're going to get something at a younger age, I'd get the potty first.

For an in lap potty we used a cleaned out 8-cup yogurt container with tape around the edge. Doing it part time, I don't know if I'd even bother with that since it was more for when I wanted to watch for her signals while also using the computer.

The sink was the best place in the beginning, imo. Convenient height for nursing and cuing.
I also really liked sitting backwards on the toilet for the same reason.

Oh, and you'll notice hrsmom and I are both first timers too. Lack of experience didn't really matter with EC for me since there were no diaper habits in place from previous LOs.

Oh, and get breastfeeding working first.

since you have such a small space I would get a potty bowl(or you could use a tupperware). I like the way the bowl fits so great in my lap and makes it so easy to pee my lo. It also fits fabuously in the diaper bag, car, etc. When your lo is a bit older you will definately want the bblp. It will be perfect bcs it moves everywhere so you don't have to rush to the bathroom all the time.
