Is Kidlax safe to use everyday, habit forming (mainly concerned about the rhubarb)?

So my 4 yr old had constipation when we started putting him in underwear about a month ago. I fretted and worried, bought the Miralax as his ped recommended, then didn't give it to him, tried everything from prune juice to ground flax seeds, to flax oil, and castor oil packs and daily massaging. Then found the Kidlax at Whole Foods. He's too young to know how to swallow a capsule, but I realized that he will eat it if I break open the capsule, put it on a spoon and hide it under some sodium ascorbate powder. Then I give him a sip of the Kids Calm for magnesium. Do it two times a day. It's working. But the label says it's not for prolonged use. I tried to give him only the SA and Kids Calm the other day and he skipped having a BM for two days. So now am back to the SA/Kidlax/KC. Is it b/c of the rhubarb in the formula that the Kidlax is not for prolonged use? It doesn't say how many mg of rhubarb is in the capsule, it's just mixed in there w/flax seed, prune, fig, and peach leaf (which all sound harmless). But am reading on the net that rhubarb can actually be harmful long term? I've been giving him this for two weeks now and it's working so well, I'm afraid to stop. And it seems to be just enough, not too much, he has a well-formed bm each morning.

He complains that his tummy hurts everyday. Even though he is pretty regular now. Could this be b/c of the rhubarb?

Did his stomach hurt before the Kidlax?
Have you tried just giving him more Magnesium?

I do remember him saying it hurt pretty frequently before the kidlax. I've eliminated dairy from his diet (well, a big source of it, the Stoneyfield yogurt which he was practically addicted to). He complains his tummy hurts after eating all different kind of things like, even just plain fruit. I was afraid b/c I had read rhubarb causes stomach cramping, but it can't be that much in the kidlax capsules as there are multiple other ingredients. He won't drink too much of the magneium drink (Kid Calm).
He says it hurts right below his ribcage. Could it be heartburn/reflux? I went to the GI specialist but he said there is no way of telling what it is unless they use the enteroscope (dh balked at this idea of anesthetizing a 4 yr old to stick a camera down his throat and I must admit, I don't like the idea of it either so I'm holding off on that appointment.)

If it were me, I'd start a food journal. And see if I notice any trends (could be a food, or a food chemical like salicylates). Also, we did a Genova stool test for my DS and found out he had no good bacteria.

If you're checking to see if it's a food, you need to take the food completely out for a fair trial (not just one source, like yogurt). For my DS corn was a major offender. He wasn't having it at every meal, but the stomachache can last for days, so it was pretty much constant.

Even if it is heartburn/reflux, it's most likely caused by a food (barring a structural deformity, but you'd probably have known about it before this). When he eats beets, does his pee turn red?

My DD2 is 4yo and she takes Mg Glycinate capsules.
