Blocking up doorless fireplace---ideas?

We have a fireplace that has no doors---they must have gotten broken off at some point, and the fireplace is probably 20 years old so it will be a while before we can find doors that fit (I think----unless they're all standard?). Probably will have to have them custom made. Until then, does anyone have any ideas on how to block it up decoratively with something that's relatively easy to get out when we want to use it? Something to discourage DD from getting into it---it's not very big, and we watch her, but it just looks both unappealing to me, and appealing to her.

target had their fireplace screens on sale for 30% off last week. It does have little doors but you could secure it shut somehow.

Not sure what your taste is, but there are a lot of options here:

We bought glass doors at OSH during the winter about 6 years ago. They only carry them seasonally and for a short period of time, but it may be worth looking into for permanent doors. They come in a variety of standard sizes (S,M,L, and a tall I think). They have fit both our houses, one built in 1934, and one built in 1952, and are really easy to install.

We plonked a credenza in front of the fireplace. It's not too heavy (for us), so we can move it out of the way if we want. Not an elegant solution, but it works for now. Fireplaces and their screens are very attractive for DD.
