Getting cat pee out of carpets

I have a cat who is peeing on the carpets. She is medically fine; just venting her frustration over our little daughter. My vet has offered no solution; just excused it as "that will happen when a baby is added to the household".

I've tried Cat Attract in the litter box, adding litter boxes, Feliway (diffuser and spray), Nature's Miracle, Anti-Icky Poo, Rescue Remedy, just to name a few. I've even contacted a cat behavioralist who recommended several of the above solutions. I've even injected the Nature's Miracle into the padding with a syringe.

I'm at my wit's end. My house still reeks of cat pee and I don't know what to do! Any tips/suggestions for getting out that awful smell? Any tips about preventing her from resoiling in the future? As it is, it seems like she's peeing on the carpets every couple of days.

When we had a little kitten who was litter box training she had a few accidents. I would blot up as much as I could by standing on the cloth. Then I would pour a generous amount of baking soda and then left it on the spot over night and vacuumed it up. The smell was gone. I sprayed it with vinegar for good measure. Worked every time but a adult cat may have stronger urine than a kitten I'm not sure. Good luck, I also know they sell enzyme cleaner at some vet places but I'm blanking on the name.

I think the enzyme cleaner is called natures miracle. Since it is a enzyme cleaner they say it takes time for it to work while the enzymes do there job but people say great things about it.

Thoroughly soak with an enzyme cleaner and then let it sit and do its thing. Takes awhile, but it works.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm already soaking everything after I identify areas with a black light. I'm afraid I"m soaking so much I"m ruining the wood underneath. And, I still don't smell any results. Perhaps I'm just not getting the entire area enough. Any ideas about lifting the carpet to directly treat the padding? Is that even possible to do?

We had some issues with this at the last place we lived. Cat pee is the most difficult thing to get out of carpet. I poured gallons of different things on that carpet trying to get the smell out and nothing really worked. In the end, I poured a lot of vinegar on it and I finally got it so the smell was only noticeable if you put your face right down to the carpet.
As much as everyone raves about Nature's Miracle, it hardly helped at all and considering how much it costs, I don't know that it's worth it.
I was lucky that my situation was in a basement apartment and the affected area was near a drain in the floor, so I didn't have to worry about ruining wood floors underneath.

As for stopping the problem, we got a second litterbox and have to be fastidious about cleaning the boxes every single day.

I used Nature's Miracle when our cat went through this phase. We had mixed results...it worked on some of the carpet, but not so much on the brand-new leather couch.

Luckily for us it was a phase, and eventually she stopped peeing on everything. But it was SO frustrating! She had started after her sister died, and she became an only cat. She stopped when we got a second cat (who she hated/still hates but it worked).

The only thing I have found to work is Urine-Off, it's formulated for cat pee and there is one for dog pee too. Just soak the spot and let it dry.
