So if the packet says not to plant until nighttime temps are above 50 degrees....

....and the weather forecast (which is often WRONG!) says we will have a couple 48 degree nights in the next ten days (even though we haven't had one below 50 in a few weeks).....then I *have* to wait, right?

I'm impatient and it's so hot here in the summer that there's not much that can make it through July and August, and I really, really, really want to get these seeds in. I have nursery transplants of the same plants doing okay (well, the cuke died) so I'm wondering if I can sneak the seeds into my raised beds if I cover them or something?

I'm referring to yellow squash, melons, english cukes and zukes.

Thanks

I would go ahead and plant them and if they come up and you know its going to be cold, cover them with something (2 liter bottle, etc.). They should be fine where you live.

Ah, permission! Thank you!

I'll be sure to cover them if it gets cold-ish.
