Sit-Stand Stroller for pre-school aged?

I'm due in May and DS is 3.5 yo

I'm thinking of "pushing" my mom in the direction of a sit-stand type stroller. She does like the mei tai, but prefers a stroller for shopping (cuz it's like a cart... lol)

My question is: has anyone used one of these with an "older toddler/preschooler"? and is it worth it?

They are great. My dd was 3 when my ds was born. Now, the front seat on the stroller doesn't recline much, so you will have to use it witha bucket until the baby is a few months old at least. It's perfect because dd can walk with me, but then jump on and ride, or sit if she is tired. The 2nd child can't sleep in it though (its just a bench seat), so its not great for really long trips, etc.
I'd get a joovy over a sit and stand, its smaller and steers closer to a single..the sit and stand is as big as a real double.
Adding a buggy board on to a nice single stroller might be an option also.

I also really liked having the sit and stand stroller. I really liked that the older one could ride and face me so we could talk. We used until my older one was almost 5, although at that point the younger one would ride in the back sometimes.

I had a Joovy?, which had the option for the older child to sit or stand. We used it regularly for about a year, but, dd was 3.5 when ds was born and it wasn't long before she preferred to walk next to the stroller. Also, as the baby gained weight it became pretty heavy and cumbersome to maneuver. We got about a year of use, then passed it on to another mother.

We have a Joovy. DD1 was 2.5 when DD2 was born and we debated a double...but then we went on a walking heavy vacation and knew we'd want the option of letting DD1 sit.

DD1 is 3.5 now and we still use it in certain occassions. She is constantly changing positions and likes that she has a 'big sister seat'. She also walks beside us frequently.

We like it for what it is.

It sounds like you will have a similar spacing to what DD1 and DD2, for DD1 I didn't need a stroller but that child would walk for miles at a fast pace from a very young age. DD2 is 3 right now and gets to ride a stroller anytime it is farther then a block, the child is the world's slowest walker! DS will be one next month and we use a double for them.
