High calorie drinks

What are some good high calorie drinks? DD is nursing less and refuses to drink milk. Her ped suggested formula or Pediasure, but no. She loves fruit smoothies and water, but those aren't very high calorie. I'm just really worried about her getting enough calories since she doesn't eat much. And please don't say nurse more. I'm pregnant and it makes my skin crawl. nursing her as often as I am is hard for me.

What about fruit smoothies made with whole milk yogurt? That would up the calories and nutrients.

I second the idea to put whole milk yogurt in your smoothies. I also put peanutbutter in smoothies sometimes. It's really good especially with a banana.

She would love that! Thanks!

you could also add a smidge of protein powder, coconut oil, breast milk-if you have any stored in the freezer, flax meal/flour... or if you have farm eggs you trust, you could put one in raw. Not sure if I could hack that personally-texture and all, but I've heard people do it...
Good luck! Have fun!

you don't want to put in a whole egg, the whites aren't digestable raw. If you put an egg in, just put in the yolk. And the texture won't be weird. It will be nice and thick and possibly a little more creamy, but it won't be a gross egg texture.

whole milk or whole milk yogurt and peanut butter in smoothies sound like great ideas. will she drink "milkshakes"? (frozen strawberries/peanut butter blended with yogurt and milk and maybe an egg yolk for a thick milk drink? If she wants it sweeter, since breastmilk is sweeter than cow's milk IIRC, add a little honey or maple syrup)

I don't think focusing purely on calories is ever a good idea (except maybe for like a week long period in a disaster zone, but really, never). Focusing on protein and healthy fat and nutrient rich foods and drinks makes much more sense, otherwise you end up with empty calories.

How about barely sweetened homemade eggnog? I know it might not be seasonal, but hey. It's cream, milk, and eggs, with a little maple syrup. the eggs make it thicker. very calorie rich, and also full of protein and healthy fats and nutrients.

Magelet-thanks for the gentle correction about egg whites now that you say it, it was just yolks I was thinking of, but it's been a while...

add coconut oil to the smoothies or full fat coconut milk. yum!

OT but curious...
When I was a kid we always had a raw egg in our smoothies. I have never heard about egg whites being indigestible raw - why?

I'm not sure. A quick google search says that it contains something which deactivates vitamin B8. I always figured since generally raw egg white isn't a texture I have much interest in (eeww the gook), and it sounds like it isn't very healthy, I'll do without. (I do fold stiff egg whites into my egg nog but that's once or twice a year).
