The Baby Sleep Book (Sears)

I already have The Baby Book, so just wondering if there are any secrets in the Sleep Book that I am missing? Or maybe I am just SO desperate for better sleep that I am willing to try anything. (except CIO)

If it's just another nice book that will pile up on my nightstand, that I can see across the room by the light of the nightlight as I nurse my DD back to sleep for the 10th time in the middle of the night, please let me know.

From your siggie I assume that your baby is 8-9 months old right?

If that is the case you are experiencing the WORST sleep for most children between teething and developmental milestones... it is bad.

Some books might give you some help but really there is no single book that is a magic helper for sleep issues especially at this age. If that is what you are looking for then I would not get it.

I didn't find any information that helped my LO sleep better. Mostly just stuff to reassure me that we're doing the right thing. I think it's mostly the same as the Baby Book.

I didn't think it was all that helpful. If I had it to do over again, I'd go right to the No-Cry Sleep Solution, which has a lot more practical advice and helped us a lot more.

I agree, it was a great pep talk but didn't teach me anything I didn't already know. But sometimes that is the most valuable thing: a good pep talk to help you keep on nurturing your little one through the night.

Yes, 8 1/2 months. How long does this phase last anyway??? :yawning

She's already crawling just fine, and pulls up to stand and cruises, so I'm not sure I know what milestone she is at...? She has six teeth right now, so I guess it could be teething. We have her Motrin two or three nights and that seemed to have no effect. Tylenol helps her calm down so she can sleep, but she still wakes *so* frequently.

I just keep thinking there is something I'm not doing. I'm questioning every choice...crib, co-sleep, side car, solids...I feel like a bad mom because I can't help my LO sleep, and I KNOW it's not good for me to be so wiped out.

No, I know there is no magic cure. I wish, though. Tonight she nursed for 3 minutes and then has been flopping around in her sidecar crib/our bed for almost half an hour. I know she will be up soon.

It was informative for me because I had no idea about how babies sleep, but otherwise, it was just letting me know that it was normal for infants not to sleep all the time.
