Can 8.5 m.o. have tahini?

Does anyone know if an 8.5 m.o. can eat tahini? My concern is the sesame seeds- are seeds grouped in with nuts- which would mean to wait until after 1 year old?
thanks!

I don't know, but the advice I've read recently states that unless your family has a history of allergies, not to really worry about that. Recent evidence suggests that in fact, NOT giving honey or peanut butter etc before the age of one, really makes no difference in allergy development unless there's a family history. So I'd say to really not fret about it

I agree on the nuts, but giving honey to an infant under 1 year carries a risk of botulism.

Oh yes, I was just talking about the allergies part of it. Actually in many cultures, honey is given to infants - and in India (and then naturally in certain Indian religions) it is given to a newborn, mixed with butter, to form ghee - in a kind of "welcome to life" ceremony
