We are trying to drink bone broth to heal our gut because of a protozoan parasite infection. I am trying to plan how much to have for us per day and was wondering how much per person is a good amount everyday to drink Anyone know?

In your case, I'd say more is better. I'd shoot for at least 2 cups a day, more if you can get it in. Try cooking it down and hiding it in foods. I do that a lot- add more stock than a recipe calls for and cook it until it's the right consistency. I can squeeze stock in all sorts of wonderful places using that method. Also, serve a small cup of soup before dinner every night as a way to get veggies and stock into each family member.

Oooh, I've just made my first batch of broth, and am trying to think up ways to hide it in food for the kids, aged 3 and 5, apart from cooking rice with it (in a rice cooker). Would love to hear your ideas! Thanks.

Chicken stock in mashed potatoes is great, beef stock (which I don't like as much) works well as a braising liquid/reduced sauce on either veggies or meat, it has a really nice mouth-feel. Chicken noodle soup (the recipe on the main mothering site) is a really good one, but any soup is good if they like soup. I've made a pureed lentil soup (French green lentils, not lentil-y tasting like brown or red lentils) is easy for kids to eat-thick and pureed-and full of stock.

I put stock anywhere water is called for in non-sweet items. I cook down the stock to concentrate it, then I use that instead of water. Many recipes call for 1/4 - 1/2 cup water while cooking. For example, instead of using water to make taco meat when you add the spices after browning the meat, instead I use concentrated beef stock. Instead of using milk in sauces, I use half milk and half stock. When making homemade cream of ___ soup, I use half stock instead of all milk.

I'm about to put some chicken stock into my chili, since my chili usually needs thinned out a little. My kids will sometimes just drink 1/2 cup in a mug, with a little salt and pepper. It doesn't always happen, but sometimes they crave it. I'm currently drinking 1+ cups a day, to try to get over a nasty cold that is trying to get me. I'm not going to let it.

Thanks everyone. DS is OK with soups, but DD only ever wants to eat the potatoes out of it. Both took a couple of sips of it today out of a mug with a straw, and then declared they didn't like it. I tried it and thought it tasted awesome - like the broth from Pho. I then cooked rice with it, and DS ate it, but DD said "I don't like the sauce". DH said it was the best rice I've ever made. I put a small amount in their pasta sauce yesterday and that's the only time they didn't notice it was there. . . .

Someone mentioned putting it in smoothies, but I'm just not sure it taste very good.

Any other ideas? Keep 'em coming! Thanks. (Sorry, OP, I should really be starting my own thread. . . )
