had stomach flu and 2 year old is still throwing up at night?

We all got the tummy bug. My 2 year old had it about 4 or 5 days ago. He had the worst of it because he is so young and hates throwing up. He seems better during the day, normal energy, no temp. But, at night around 2 or 3 am he throws up, looks like most of his food from the day but I can't tell for sure. Anyone experience this or know why or what to do.

That happened with my DD last year when she was 2 after we had a gi bug. She would vomit about 5 or 6 hours after going to bed. It wasn't every night, it was every couple nights and lasted a week or 2. I finally called the doc and she told me that sometimes that happened with toddlers. I kept her on a bland diet and it did stop.

This is exactly what is going on with my 23 month old right now. He isn't eating that much and we are keeping him on a bland diet. He's been sick for about 7 days. Only really sick for 2. Vomiting only - no fever, no diarrhea. 2 nights ago he made it through the whole night not vomiting, then midnight last night he throws up a lot. What *is* this?! Can I se nd him to daycare? He only vomits 1-3 times at night...during the day he is normal. I am running out of vacation days.

We just had a similar stomach virus 2 weeks ago. My 20 month old had really about 12 hours of acute illness, but continued to vomit 1x a night for about 5 days. The rest of us were also ill but did not have this kind of problem. I don't know why it happened, but obviously you are not alone. It took about 10 days for his appetite to really come back.

I don't know what the answer is, but my DD had this same kind of GI bug a couple of months ago. A few hours of continuous symptoms with fever, then about a week of only vomiting at night.

The turning point for us was when I was able to have my little guy eat a charcoal tablet and then just gave him smoothies and broth the rest of the day. Finally, all better. I think that the bacteria/virus even when it is not active any more leaves a toxic mess behind and the charcoal sucks it up.
