U.S. commercials reenact hospital births all the time (usually with a baby that appears about a month old ) I am happy to see a home birth portrayed in a commercial (and it's real not a reenactment...which in my mind makes it BETTER)

I could only wish to see something like that (despite the commercial aspect) in the US. I'm a birth junkie anyways, so getting home birth out there and normalized is so important to me...even if this birth were shown on something like Baby Story or those other TLC/DH channel baby shows. Homebirth is normal and statistically as safe as a hospital...and I second the pp that her birth was peaceful and amazing!

I can't believed I just cried at an ad for a bed.

While the commercialization of anything we hold sacred has an icky feel to it, seeing images like this on television would go a long way to normalize homebirth in our culture. Of course, an ad like this would never play in the US, because we are really far away from being at the point that an advertiser would even consider using homebirth in an ad. There would be too many angry letters and product boycotts to follow.... it would be business suicide.
