Dish washers or...

Totally not sure where to post this, maybe this forum?

Our dishwasher died. I've been using it as a glorified dish rack recently until I realized that the water dripping from the dishes pooled in the bottom (it's not draining) and it was getting nasty.

I kind of like not having a dish washer, but I'm not sure if we should a) pay money to get it fixed b) remove it and replace it with something completely (but what?) or c) buy a new Energy Saver dishwasher. (Like we have the money for that right now, not.) This isn't our forever house yet so I don't know if it will affect the resale if we don't have a dishwasher - but we're not planning on moving tomorrow either so I don't know.

We lived without a dishwasher for so long that I've been spoiled the last year that we had one - probably made me get lazy and pile everything in there causing it to break.

Someone tell me what I should do?

It's a plus on home resale if that's in your future. But if it's just you long term and you don't mind doing dishes, throw it out. You can buy one later on and if you're selling boast the dishwasher is brand new.

As for replacement, is it under an existing counter? Maybe stick shelves for storage there? If no counter, put a smallish table in there?
