Slightly confused about due date...

I have been charting temps and tracking cycles, and LMP was Jan 1. When I look that up on the online due date calculators, they said around Oct. 8th or 10th (depending on what I put in for cycle length). So I called the clinic yesterday and nurse said the 7th. I said can you tell me about how far along I am, she said about 8 weeks and a few days.

Huh? That puts me back to about Jan. 4th, I still had my period then! I don't get it! I have PCOS and I wasn't even supposed to be ovulating, so I'm not sure when that would have happened. I was charting, but missed a couple days around that time

How can I be about 8 wks pregnant if I still had my period 8 wks ago??
Thanks!

8 weeks pregnant means its been 8 weeks since your last period and you likely got pregnant 2 weeks after, meaning you have been physically pregnant for 6 weeks, but in your pregnancy cycle for 8.

Obviously, since her date is only 1 day sooner than yours you actually agree on how far along you are.

That clears it up, thanks! I just wanted to know about how far along I was with the actual pregnancy. The nurse did mention the 2 week thing but I was still confused.

Ya, Maeryn is exactly right. They are dating from the first day of your last period, and they include those days in your 'pregnancy'. So you have been pregnant for 6 weeks, but from now on everyone will refer to it with those extra two weeks tact on. So any pregnancy info you look up online will say 8weeks pregnant unless it specifically clarifies that they count from O day. Congrats on the pregnancy!!!
