How to deal with leaking?

Can anyone advise me on the best way to manage milk leaking? It mainly only happens when I am nursing on the other side. I have some lily padz but they are left over from when I had my son and don't really work any more. They are kind of pricey to replace though. I also have washable pads that I sometimes use but they are bulky and soak through anyway. I know I could use disposable ones but I'd rather avoid it if possible. Is there any other option I'm missing?

It sort of depends on how much you leak. I leaked REALLY heavy for the first few months. Now after 13 months I still leak some on the side I'm not nursing, but I can just apply pressure to the area with my palm and it stops the leaking. If you don't want to use disposable pads, you could try using the cloth pads and also applying pressure. Probably some other moms have better ideas than me, though!

If I was out and about I would have a breast pad on - although I usually nursed in the car where I could do the same thing I do at home, which is stick a prefold in there. If I was pumping (EPed for the first 8 weeks), I would sometimes stick a tiny collection container in my nursing tank to catch the dripping milk. I am low supply and don't waste a drop!

This worked with me, too. (Thanks for reminding me of this trick, by the way. I could be days from leaky boobs again for the first time in several years!)

stick a glass bottle or jar under to catch the drips. you can freeze the milk or use it right away by just drinking it yourself and/or giving it to your older dc.

I guess I should have been more clear. I was thinking about being out and about and NIP. I don't feel comfortable putting a glass under my breast or even pressing it in public. But I also don't want those annoying wet patches. I'm thinking of getting new lily padz. They really do seem to be the best solution.

honestly, I would try out the disposable pads. I use gerber ultra thins, no tape no the back to stick to me, and they are thin and cheap. kilypadz are so expensive!

Another gerber ultra-thin user here. I leaked very heavily the first time around, and these were the only ones that worked and were virtually unnoticeable under tighter shirts. A $5 box of 60 lasts me for 2 months, so nbd, really. Cloth ones never held enough.

Thanks, I'll try the Gerber ones.

i know you said you don't want to press it in public, and neither do i-- but what i do is press my forearm over it (the arm from the other side) and keep my fingers "busy" holding the edge up my shirt up (and get ready to pull it down when something distracts DS!). It just looks like my arm is busy, not pressing the boob
