I'm teaching right now, b/c I had tenure (I was on leave for two years) and the economy fell apart/DH quit his job so he wouldn't murder someone.
So today a student (9th grade), who put on her "about me" sheet (we just started a new term with all new students) that she was homeschooled for 8 years, mentions how cute my kid is (I have pics on my desk) and I agreed
and said, and we're probably homeschooling her. Her eyes lit up and she cheered and mentioned she missed it. I made a crack about being in a place with "a power to overall you all" now (we were studying Hobbes today) but it is so nice to get to know a homeschooled teen. I have lots of friends who are planning on HSing or who HS young kids, any plenty more looking at the private and public choices around here very thoughtfully... but this was my first encounter with someone outside the AP baby/playgroups.
I'm pretty sure she's the kid that mentioned knowing Italian, the first week of class. I'm SO going to enlist her as a mother's helper and have her work on DD's Italian, if I'm right and if she likes to babysit
