In my first pregnancy, I gained only 3 pounds more than the baby, placenta and amniotic fluid weighed. I ate well, had no serious morning sickness, and felt well the whole time.
Then, in the next 4-5 months, I gained 20 pounds while exclusively breastfeeding. My appetite actually diminished and I ate less than before or during pregnancy. I watched what I ate and I exercised. I felt and looked like a balloon all the time. This state lasted for 2.5 years, after which I weaned DD and immediately got pregnant again.
Now, at 27 weeks, I weigh just a couple of pounds more than I did at the beginning of pregnancy. Except for the bump (and the BIG baby inside), I look and feel much thinner than before this pregnancy and I'm eating like a wolf... even craving and indulging in really fattening stuff. It's like I have a metabolism again!
Has anyone experienced this? Was it breastfeeding that destroyed my metabolism last time around and what can I do about it this time?
