Acupuncture for cycle regulation/fertility?

I've always had long and irregular cycles. It took us 18 months to conceive our oldest, 2 pp cycles to conceive our daughter (6 months) and were very lucky to conceive our youngest son in 2 cycles post stillbirth. I'm currently still nursing our youngest, though he's down to one session and seems to be nearing the end of nursing.

I'd like to try acupuncture to regulate my cycles and hopefully, give us more chances in a year to conceive (with shorter cycles). Do I need to wait until my son has weaned completely?

Has anyone had any experience and/or success with acupuncture for fertility?

After more than a year of trying and a handful of miscarriages (and DS was concieved in ONE night alone - we were not even trying lol) - I tried accupuncture and it worked for my first cycle! - Due now in 6 weeks! lol
I have continued to see my acupuncturist during pregnancy as well and have found it helpful for all sorts of things! Apparently - it also helps in reducing labouring time and pain as well! (will just see when I get there! hehe)
So - I would highly recommend it!

Wether or not you should wait until your son stops nursing is up to you and a very personal deicision. I personally would - but thats because I am a fan of child led weaning (certainly would never dream of it for a child under 2) and I know that pregnancy can mess with the milk supply in the majority (not all of course - but the percentages are small enough for me to not want to risk that) of woman. My acupuncurist was interested in this (it was one of the things she asked me at the first appointment) - now wether or not it would have made a difference or in the treatment she gave me either way I will never know as I was not nursing or pumping any longer for my son.

I cant speak of the breastfeeding with accupunture, i think you should as a accupunture therapist that question but as for accupunture, i am totally hooked. I have been TTC #3 for five cycles and started having accupuncture weekly since about CD6 last cycle, i didnt fall pregnant but have already felt a difference and am currently Oing about 4-5 days earlier than I normally do!! And i have never had this much energy in my entire life!!! Goodluck!!

acupuncture is how I got my sweet DS! The only reason i stopped going is that we moved away to a different city. Now with ttc #2..we have decided if it doesn't happen by summer we will go back to acupuncture, even if I have to pay big bucks or drive really far.

it regulated my cycle the first cycle that I went. i think i've seen you on some other threads here so you might remember that i have long irregular cycles.

So, YES, I had amazing success. Regulated on the first cycle, pregnant 3 months later.

We have been TTC for 17 months now and I am on my 2nd cycle with an acupunturist. I really can't say so far if anything has changed. I should O on Monday/Tuesday (based on my history) but my CM is telling me I will O sooner. Which is good because I usually O late and have a short LP.
I will say this...if you ever feel bloated/ retaining water go see an acupuncturist! My last session I went in soooo bloated (from traveling). Within 15 minutes of her applying the needles I had to run to the bathroom and I swear I peed for 5 minutes straight!
GL!

I have been hoping to look into this soon. What is the price like? And what about pain?? Yikes!

I just started with acupuncture, so i can't say much about its effectiveness yet, but I really enjoyed my first appt and it was very relaxing. It didn't hurt at all. For my acupuncturist, the first appt was $110 and the next appts are $75. I know she offers a sliding scale too.

i'm breastfeeding and AP hasn't affected anything there at all. there should be no need to wean. it has been SO awesome for me - i totally recommend it. as for pain, it just feels like a slight prick, but the whole experience is super relaxing. i make sure to remind myself to relax my jaw and hips (it helps the rest of your body relax), and i tell myself to let this work, let the good come in, and breathe out when she places the needles in. it seriously just feels like someone's poking you with a pencil.
