Yay for breastmilk

My 3 month old and the only other breastfed infant in his daycare class are the only ones not sick with a bad stomach virus that broke out yesterday. Its times like these that make the difficulty of BF'ing while working all so worthwhile. I was even able to give some pumped milk to my toddler that attends the same daycare so hopefully she won't get sick either. Yay for breastmilk!

Yay for breastmilk is right!

My DH and I had a horrible stomach bug when DD was about 6 mo. old. Thanks to the magic of breastfeeding, she never got it. Thank God, because it probably would have put her in the hospital, it was so bad. I can only imagine how much money, time, and heart-ache breastfeeding saved us on that occassion. I wish more people saw the benefits of BF!

I can't figure out why there's only one other child getting breastmilk in his class. The daycare that my DD attended as an infant had mostly BF'd babies and only a few formula babies. The daycare my DD attended was downtown in the heart of the city and now they go to a daycare in the suburbs. I've been scratching my head wondering why such a difference. I do know that our previous daycare was very supportive of the BF'ing mom. The teachers really encouraged it. I wonder if that created just enough motivation for some moms to keep doing it.

I'm on my third bug of the season. My girl is still healthy. I'm ready to start drinking my own breast milk!

LOL groovyem!!! I'm sorry about you being sick 3 times already though. I have put breast milk up my nose and in my ears out of desperation to prevent an oncoming cold. It seemed to work ok. I still got sick but it didn't seem as bad. When I drank raw cow's milk we never got sick. Too bad I can't afford it lately but at least my kids are getting milk from me.
